The more people go 'omg flappy bird is so hard' to others, the more interest it'll rake in. Good on the dev's on getting that lucky streak and banking, I suppose.
How in the fuck did this get so popular.
It's fucking everywhere on Facebook, Ask, Twitter, every other social media and I'm sick of it.
And that it uses recolored sprites from Super Mario makes me even less interested.

It makes me mad in fact, that you can earn that much money on ripped off art.

I have a friend who got 42 for playing this game for just 10 minutes and then uninstalled it. :v:
Hey guys what's your flappy bird score?

I agree, it makes me mad too. In fact I'm betting that's why the creator is all shy about getting media attention (he refuses to do interviews and claims to not want the fame) because he fears Nintendo coming after him.
And Windows Phone now joins in the fad.
Just installed it for laughs...
Wow, what a load of rubbish - rises too much on each tap and the hitbox is noticeably bigger than the bloody sprite.
I think I'll stick to Canabalt and Super Hexagon if I want infinite games.
windows phone doesn't have many apps and goddammit it doesn't need this cancer.
So why does everyone hate this so much? Other than either being bad at the game or jealous of the guy making money for little to no work.
Seriously though it is a pretty perfect mobile game. Easy to pick up and play. High scores so you can brag to friends. Plus it's free, which is always a bonus when there are no micro transactions. I don't see a single problem really.
No way his name is actually Dong Nguyen.
downloaded, tried it. basically SF cave, but with a fucking bird.
$50k a day. a day. even after the fad dies, he'll be able to live in luxury for quite a while.

I've heard accusations of bots and sockpuppeting, but I've no idea as to the truth of them.
TBH I like flappy bird more than 90% of mobile games
The thing about mobile games is that I RARELY want to be using my phone to play a game for more than 5 minutes, or invest any real amount of time into it. I hardly ever play games on my phone period. Flappy bird, while nothing I play a lot or anything, is at least fun because its simple, difficult 5-10 seconds of brief timewasting enjoyment. Its literally zero time commitment, which is the only way I'll bother spending time playing a phone game in the first place.
This Chinese guy next to me was at 45 in his first run, I only got at 12
The new QWOP :v:

Because for casual phone gamers, this is a completely new experience, having the element of "hard".
That said, an hour or two of practice makes you good enough to really get a score of whatever, and the rest is just being patient enough. Gets stale pretty quickly.
Flappy Bird is a great example of a good Mobile game though,
Free
No In App Purchases
No Intrusive ads
Pick up and play
I'd agree there are better games out there, but it's what the masses are playing I suppose
A lot of you guys are super bitter about a free mobile game.
I really don't get it, lol.
-snip-
Well at least there still is a chance to make it big by crapping out rip-off flash games. I'd try my hand at it but I can't arse myself. Kudos to Dong Nguyen.
There's nothing wrong with a simple/shitty game being popular if it's just something people can pick up and play without any time investment.

As a WP user, I can tell you that this is precisely the cancer it needs for a lot of people to be happy.
This is news because there are no apps on windows phone
i have an ativ s

And as fast as it came it's going to removed.

Wait, IG is behind this. How come you will port fucking Flappy Bird to Windows Phone but never release the iPhone version of Bioshock!?

It came out a year ago what are you talking about?
Can Nintendo not sue them?
Candy Crush syndrome. Basically "OMG you HAVE to try thiss!!"
Since it's ad revenue, they're technically not benefiting from the art. So nope.
