• ISP forces me to pay a massive price for a shitty router to access internet.

You probably don't know, but QTel nearly has a monopoly in Qatar in terms of internet service (vodafone is absolute shit here). This means that they get to do whatever the fuck they want. So they want me to pay around $100+$10 (approximate conversion to $) for a shitty ass Thompson modem router. Whenever I want to use my netgear modem router, it is unable to connect to the internet. Is there any way around this (like messing around with the place you plug the cable into the wall)?
After a tedious amount of searching and guessing, I've come up with a possible thing they might be doing: ISP has recorded the MAC address of my modem router. OR They only allow connections with certain MAC addresses to access internet. In this case, I'll have to change my MAC address. However, It's probably more likely to be the latter, so is it possible to fool the system into thinking that my router has a MAC address that is close to or similar enough to the router they let me test for 5 days. How would I go about doing that?
You get a modem of your own and you keep calling to talk to provisioning.
Are you sure the internet access from them doesn't simply require a login?
Are you sure the internet access from them doesn't simply require a login?
Called them. They basically said (in a VERY roundabout fashion): "You're not using a qtel router, therefore we will not provide service to you unless you purchase our routers."
