Wow linking and matchmaking, i'm glad the ps4 will have the same features as the ps3.
I'm not sure sony is talking about it in the context of augmenting games with cloud computing (such as better graphics or physics intensive stuff).
I'm not sure sony is talking about it in the context of augmenting games with cloud computing (such as better graphics or physics intensive stuff).
you mean those literally impossible things that microsoft is lying about? cloud computing will be only used for things that can tolerate 100ms or so delays, not frame by frame stuff, that's flat out impossible.

This script is fucking hilarious.
This script is fucking hilarious.
Well not really, but hey.
This script is fucking hilarious.

Microsoft has been keen to promote Xbox One's use of my butt. .... Butt computing supposedly makes Xbox One four times more powerful. It also justifies why Xbox One is effectively an always-on console. But what about Sony's next-gen machine? Sure, it can stream games via the butt-powered Gaikai. But can it also follow Microsoft's step in offloading computation to my butt? "Of course," Sony's Shuhei Yoshida said

I use the same script, and I clicked on the "load of rubbish" link inside the article. I saw the name "Matt Booty" and thought his last name was "Cloudy" and the script just changed that. I fell off my chair when I turned the script off.
I'm really regretting getting that Butt script around the same time I started a Final Fantasy 7 playthrough... Looking up information online has never been more awkward. (Regretting not setting Cloud's name to Butt). Oh, but on the good side, I'm falling off my ass whenever I read something about "Butt computing", it really does show what a gimmick Cloud Computing is.

well yeah, anything with a powerful enough internet can
Sony is giving everyone the option. Microsoft is forcing everyone their option. Like I've said before. Any time I use 20% or more of my allotted speed, my upstream cuts out and my modem resets, cutting me off from the internet. So Xbox One even if I wanted one is completely out of the question and useless for me. Fucking Florida
To be honest sure it can support cloud computing as long as it allows game to call back to a server. The problem is that it probably doesn't do this is in a nice package which a dev can easily go for and use, and will instead force the dev to do it on their own. Same goes for used games and many other optional features of the new xbox.
Quick! Everybody take a shot every time a new article about PS4 comes out!
I completely forgot that I installed this script and sat there thinking "wtf?"
Anything that has an internet connection can do "cloud computing". The way I understood this whole thing is that Microsoft already has built the infrastructure for this that they are offering to developers. Instead of setting up their own servers and everything they have a readymade API where the developer can just say "hey offload these calculations to the cloud". Whether there is really any significant real world use for this, I don't know.
The cloud to butt script is fun an all, until I try to show someone the weather. fuck
The "cloud" is such a fucking god-awful buzzword and this post is a perfect example why.
I don't see how? It's an actual piece of technology and it's being used.
I don't see how? It's an actual piece of technology and it's being used.
It's not. It's a word we put on shit we've done for the past 30 years with various levels of efficiency and success. Cloud computing is only new to high school children who are starting to learn about computers. For the rest of us, it's business as usual.
I don't see how? It's an actual piece of technology and it's being used.
Every online multiplayer game ever uses "cloud" computing. In terms of amazon compute style stuff though, that's been around for quite a while too and nobody has seen fit to use it for the bullshit they're suggesting. Remember that all this shit _already exists_ and can already be used by every game on pretty much every platform. Problem is it's not useful so nobody bothers. It's just a lame attempt to get more than one person to use Azure while simultaneously pretending that there will be some performance advantage for xbone despite its shittier hardware.
This script is fucking hilarious.
Where can I find a Firefox version of this script?
