What I have it down too, any suggestions or improvements? I am considering springing for a better graphics card but i'm not sure. First time building a pc so any thoughts would be nice. Oh, and I can probably spend up to about 1.3k
Spinpoint F3 instead of the caviar black.
Spinpoint F3 instead of the caviar black.
ok, any thoughts on whether I should spring for a better graphics card or not?
Hold on, I've got a build on the way.. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] You should also buy a CPU cooler like a Hyper 212+ (Don't get it off Newegg though, Fry's has it for like $25)
Seems like the PSU is a little overkill, and at that price I would expect more ram, also the CPU cooler seems unessential. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 - this is the ram I had in mind
PSU isn't overkill, allows headroom for SLI and overclocking. RAM is your choice, but if you're not gonna use 8GB just get 4GB.
Think i'm going to settle on this, mainly because of the price.
Mine is quite a bit better but if you insist on it.
Mine is quite a bit better but if you insist on it.
Well it is for sure, but it's also 100 bucks more. I decided that it would be a good idea to save some money for later. After all whats the point of having A good computer if you can't play any games on it. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] Oh, anybody know any applicable coupons?
Armo's is way more than 100 bucks worth better.
Do you want a SSD? I have a Vertex 3 and yes it fast but worth it? Yes if you can spare the money no if your saving money. 1. Think about the SSD 2. Think about Ati 7XXX series, it's a long wait but how bad is your current position? 3. Maybe get Cavier Green 1TB, there cheaper, a tad slower perhaps but they pack a punch for their money. 4. That motherboard is a mATX, why? A small case? Because you like them or because it's in the deal? Look for a motherboard that covers your needs, the GIGABYTE GA-Z68P-DS3 is 30 euro cheaper here. 5. The Corsair Vengeance memory for the 1155 is good, I have it myself it's a tad big but not too expensive. Same price, scratch that. 6. Get a After Market cooler, like the Muggen Rev2 it's very silent and preform good, might ad a extra 30-50 euro/dollar. 7. Case is prefrence.
Is Armo's build like the best value for your money? If so then I think I'll remove the SSD and upgrade the Win7 Home to Professional.
Is Armo's build like the best value for your money? If so then I think I'll remove the SSD and upgrade the Win7 Home to Professional.
Professional is a gimmick. No need, Home edition is really all you need.
Even though it doesn't have XP mode? Or is that a gimmick too?
Even though it doesn't have XP mode? Or is that a gimmick too?
Sorry that not everyone has $80 laying around. Not worth it just for some 'XP Business programs'.
You've got a point. I'll go for Home then. Thanks for informing me.
Finished building it today, runs great will post pics soon. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] Well one thing, the ssd and the cd drive were doa so I need to do some RMA...
Armotekma, I don't understand why you're so fixed on Intel when in reality- yeah. They're made better, vent less heat and overall are slightly better, but AMD does the same thing and they run with great speeds when Overclocked and to cool it you only need a off brand fan. Not only that but they cost much, much less. For a four core AMD processor you spend about 120 dollars, for a Duel Core Intel processor you pay up to 130, and that's the starting price.
no [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/88?vs=288
no [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/88?vs=288
It's not even a fair comparison: the 955 and the 2500K.
-snip- Cool. Too bad the SSD was crap
