I'm trying to delete the windows installation as well as several program files folders from my old HDD however they refuse to be deleted because I do not have Trusted Installer permissions, is there any way I can delete these folders without permissions or gain Trusted Installer pemissions?
I've tried using the Security tab to change my own rights to the folder but that always gave me a security error.
In the security tab, add the User "TrustedInstaller" or something similar to that, then give it the appropriate permissions, it should work
I had the same problem when I wanted to remove a folder. After doing some googling, people say do not do the stuff adding TrustedInstaller permissions, but instead use Disk Cleanup. Choose your drive then select "Remove previous Windows installations".

I can't seem to find that option anywhere in Disk Cleanup and Unlocker hasn't done anything it seems.

Follow my method above, or run this:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535
Neither of your methods worked, changing TrustedInstaller's permissions just gave me a permissions error and Disk Cleanup doesn't seem to see the installation of Windows on D:\ as an old installation :bang:
You need to take ownership of the files / folders. Right Click > Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner > Edit > Choose Administrators or your user account
Hopefully this will allow you to take control of all the files in a folder at once, I've only used it for individual files.
As I said in the OP, I tried that and it can't be done due to a permissions error.

What is the exact error message of the permissions error?
