So my friend is looking forward to build a gaming computer, and I promised to help him. I have never built a computer myself, but I guess I could handle it.
So the budget is ~900€, but that budget has to contain the OS (Win8 propably?). We live in Finland, so the prices are propably a bit bigger than in other European countries...
I've thought about a NVidia graphics card, GTX 770 or something... Then maybe intel i5/i7. 8gb (2x4gb) RAM would propably be enough and I guess he would survive with a normal HDD (SDD would increase the price quite a bit I think). I have literally no idea about motherboard, but would be great if it was pretty decent so upgrading the computer would be possible in the future. He might be able to get the DVD drive from his old computer. My brother has a coolermaster case, it's nice and doesn't get very warm, so I think one of those would be good... No idea about the prices tho.
I don't really know which parts fit together, so I think I need a little advice here :p Would be awesome if you could suggest good combinations fitting in the budget!
Hopefully you can get something like this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2haGU
If you can't, just downgrade to a 760 (still MSI Twin Frozr).
Try not to pay too much more than 60 euros for RAM if you can help it. If you need to go to 1600MHz, go ahead and do that (RAM frequency doesn't make much of a difference); I would try not to go below 1333MHz, but like I said it doesn't make that much of a difference (although generally 1333MHz is more expensive due to low demand). You can also downgrade the case to a 200R if necessary.
If your friend isn't going to overclock, you can downgrade to a B85-G41, i5-4670 (no K prefix), and just use the stock cooler.
For the OS, Windows 8.1 is the fastest windows OS, Windows 7 is the cheapest. Keep in mind that functionality is not an issue since programs can be installed to make windows 8 and 8.1 act like windows 7.
He isn't going to overclock, I'm sure about that :D So you can count all manual overclocking off... The GTX 770 looks nice, I think I'll try to keep that in the package, I guess you can get a lot of gaming performance out of it. 770 costs around 300€ from msi in Finland... Asus one is 20€ more expensive, what's the difference between those two? RAM costs like hell in Finland :L That Ares is a bit over 90€. I found a bit cheaper one, Kingston HyperX Genesis 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 1600 MHz DDR3 CL9 XMP. Is that any different?
And about the motherboard, what's the difference between those two? Is the other one just better for overclockers or something? :p
I think it would be smart to buy Win8.1 straight. IMO it's not really that bad OS and I guess he'll get used to it. Win7 is great but idk if it's wise to buy an OS that will be outdated in the future :P
That RAM will be fine.
The Asus 770 doesn't have as good a cooler (in other words the MSI version is cheaper and better).
Regarding the motherboard, the B85 G41 doesn't support overclocking at all. You have to have a z87 motherboard to be able to overclock. The only real reason I would advise upgrading to a Z87x-d3h anyway (or another motherboard in the same tier) is if you plan to use SLI or CFX in the future.
Regarding the OS, all operating systems will be out of date in the future. There's no real bad side to getting Windows 7 as far as compatibility is concerned (support for it won't drop for a long, long time), but I would still recommend 8.1 since it's faster.
So the build looks like this now:

Is the case any good, will heating/noise be a problem? I chose the cheaper motherboard for now. I'm sure he won't need any overclocking (asked him and he didn't even know what overclocking means lol) and upgrading the computer in the future will propably just be upgrading the GPU or CPU to a newer one.
Windows 8.1 it will be. So what does the build look like now? And any other people's opinions? (Many experts always better than one :p)
I'd get this since it's a bit cheaper: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f312800cl9d8gbxl
Other than that, it looks good.

In finland, that blu one is 3€ cheaper... What's the difference between those 2?
Nevermind, I forgot you were buying from Finland. There's no real difference, go for the Kingston.
I can't find that EVGA power supply from the 2 finnish stores I'm looking from, could it be replaced with something else?

What's the difference between these 2?

Other is 10€ cheaper, but I can't see any other diff?

The build without PSU is now 960€ which is a bit over the budget :/ wouldn't like to downgrade the GPU tho... damn
[editline]9th December 2013[/editline]
Okay, my friend doesn't want it to go over 900, so downgrading the GPU to msi gtx 760 twin frozr..
Neither of those RAM modules will do because they operate at 1.65V. You need RAM that operates at 1.5V or lower (the maximum speed for Intel processors). The PSU can be replaced. Just grab one that's at least 80 plus bronze, and has reputable reviews from professionals (e.g. hardware secrets, JohnnyGuru, etc.).
http://www.jimms.fi/tuote/CMX8GX3M2A1600C11 is this better? And what about this PSU http://www.jimms.fi/tuote/RS650-ACAAD3-EU

This is what the build now looks like... He said 1000€ would be the max price, and it's now 1000€ :D

Do all those parts surely fit together (added that memory and PSU I mentioned above, are they OK?)
That all looks very good to me.
