I wasn't sure where to post this because i didn't see an automotive section to post in...hopefully i don't get banned for this but here goes: I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy...My battery will randomly start loosing it's power and not have enough juice to crank it over, at times it will fire up just fine, sometimes it will have enough juice to turn it over for half a second and will begin just clicking, and sometimes its so dead it doesn't light anything up when i open the door or put the key in...Just bought a brand new battery ~2 months ago, alternator has been tested and is working fine...We think something is drawing power from the battery when it shouldn't be, but we can't find the problem. A tech guy at autozone said something might be grounding out or a ground for the battery isn't attached correctly but everything is in good condition...Any ideas?
Go to mechanic. Facepunch is mostly comprised of 12 year old, who don't drive, or even know what cars are.
Everyone knows what a car is, It's 2009. >_>
Check the cables and your belt tensioner. My dad had a similar problem to this and I believe it was the belt slipping.
fuck 09 its 2010. [editline]09:12PM[/editline] almost
[QUOTE=TicTac;19107129]Check the cables and clean the battery terminals.[/QUOTE] Battery is too new to have any corrosion when i drive it every day, but i have checked that and the cables and everything is okay, the belt is squeaking somewhere, but i watched all the pulleys and none of them are slipping, including the alternator, so Idk...thought about a tune up or something to adjust the pulleys because it looks like some of them are off balance, would this have anything to do with it? Or is that just causing squeaking issues? [editline]04:15PM[/editline] [QUOTE=gerbils_alt_2;19106383]Go to mechanic. I feel your pain man. I drive Eddie baur 1992 for bronco, best truck in the world, but my battery is doing the same. Did you try cleaning the connections on the battery? Clean that white dusty stuff off it. Also make sure the red and black cables are connected to the battery and not loosened , the slightest room for them to move will mess it up.
