Hey guys, i bought windows 7 a while (about 2 weeks after release) anyway at that point i was pretty stupid when it came to computers. HOWEVER now i know much more and am in the process of building a new computer, so my question is is there anyway to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit, WITHOUT buying windows all over again, i have one disc and one cd key that came with the OS, i would really appreciate any help!
thanks
Eric
Depends on your disc, Some DVD's have both on install
And how would i be able to tell, and if it does not, then what?
Also i was living in Germany at the time so the cd is in English, but i guess German sold?
When you go to install it, it will say to choose 86 or 64 (86 being 32 bit) but that's only on some discs
Okay, im looking at the CD now and it says 32 bit software, now what? do i have any other alternatives? or i know its wrong, but can i torrent a 64 bit and use my cd key on that? help? please i really cant spend 100 dollars on another copy of this shit
i could really appreciate the help guys
I don't think you have an x64 copy. Mine had the 32 and 64 bit install media on two separate discs.
My disc is the AIO (All-in-one) and has every edition of Windows 7 on it. Enterprise has long-term update support.
If your disc doesn't have x64, then you'd have to buy a new CD that has x64 on it. Or you can pirate it if you'd prefer.

I believe there are ISO's from an official partner of Microsoft that you can apparently use freely, so long as you use your own product key of course.

Don't take my word for it though; I haven't tried it myself (I prefer Windows in Dutch)
