This is a random idea for a thread I just thought of. This is sort of to make people think 'Really? They (don't) have that over in America?'. Sort of a comparison of the two countries. This is also a thread to ask people from the other country 'Do you have (an item, a store, whatever) over there?' I'll start:
* We don't have Wendys, Walmart, Home Depot or Radio Shack in the UK.
* We do, however, have Penguin biscuits. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penguin_(biscuit), which are marvellous.
* 'Fanny' means 'vagina' in the UK and not 'ass'.
* We call 'freeways' 'motorways' over here in the UK.
* 'Fag' is a common slang word for a cigarette in the UK, rather than a slang term for a gay man.
You probably knew a lot of this already, but hopefully it'll get the ball rolling.
We call the accelerator on a car an accelerator, not the 'gas'
We drive on the left side of the road. :v:
They're not random differences, it's a carefully orchestrated conspiracy.
We have Garry.
* Gun law stuffs
* Government
* voices :lol:
* voices :wtf:
Our influences to music scalewise are bigger than the us :smug:

* We don't have Costco in the UK.
Bullshit. There's one nearby me.
Bullshit. There's one nearby me.
Really? Oh, then consider myself corrected. I'd never seen one before, so I assumed it was only an American thing. :P
UK: TK Maxx
US: TJ Maxx

Yeah, there's a Costco in Liverpool. Anyway, here's my one, probably the main thing that makes Britain so much better than America.
We have the BBC. Suck it.
-We have American Football
-UK has Cricket
-We have Democracy
-UK has better schools (elementry and High School)
thats about all the ones i can think of, that haven't been said.
Oh yeah, the school system.
The school you go to from the ages of 4 to 6 is called infants school.
From 7 to 10, it's primary school and from 11 to 16 it's secondary school. After that, we're given the option to go to college, which lasts between 1 to 3 years depending on the course. We can then go to university for 3 or 4 more years. Both college and university are optional. The American equivalent of college would be the senior year of high school and for university, the equivalent would be college.
Oh, and in the UK, we have to wait until we are 17 before we can drive rather than 16.
^Yup. A lot of Americans...id hate to say it, but aren't as educated as they should be. Take me for example, i barley try in school, but i get mostly A's (Religion i got a C in this year :downs: ) and score above the 93% for 8th grade on scantron, which is the test results from a whole grade in the country. But the reason our schools lack is because of the unwillingness. Teachers dont want to teach, students dont want to be in school, etc. We can make the schools better in the US. All we have to do is find teachers that want to teach students, and students who want to learn should exede their class and match their abilities.
Also, another difference:
-Affirmative Action
(which basically states this: You hire 200 White people. You MUST hire 5 black people. Even if the 201 white guy went to college, got a degree, etc,and the 5th black guy applying for the job dropped out of high school, but the black guy would get the job. It is a retarded law.)
-oh, and the USA Team Goal keeper is better. :smug:
UK doesn't have democracy?
What the fuck you been smoking boy?
Tell me if I'm wrong, but isn't the British equivalent of "flipping-off" the index and ring finger forwards, towards you?
We play football.
US plays hand egg.
crumpets

wat.
UK has just about the longest tradition of Democracy in world history.
UK was a constitutional monarchy long before the existence of the US.
