Cats or dogs, you pick and give me a good reason why :D
Cats because they're cute and kinda independent Dogs because they're funny and, most of the time, really affectionate.
Cats, because cats
Cats because lack of shits to give
Dogs because they are more friendly and less sociopathic.
Our two cats are extremely social and loving, they always welcome you home for one reason or another when they aren't asleep. I can understand the view of cats as sociopaths, though - they're really not meant to be. Ours just happen to be exceptionally huggable, I suppose.
Always been a dog person. I think dogs are more people friendly and they love to have fun. My experience with cats has always been boring (once again, MY experiences, not speaking for all cats). They usually sit around and don't want to be loved... Dogs are amazing. Big dogs are even better.
I prefer cats. They're much easier to take care of when compared to dogs, and they're very affectionate. Although I do like small dogs. Corgis for example.
Cats All who say otherwise are mistaken
Honestly I prefer Dogs since they tend to be total bros.
I have three cats but after reading Cracked I'm not sure if they really love me or I'm just a pawn to them. Got two dogs and I love them to bits though, even if they were domesticated to pretty much love us. :v:
Dogs are for people that go outside. Therefore a cat is better.
Both.

Of course the internet loves cats. Anyone who owns a dog is forced to exercise.
Dogs. They're wonderful and affectionate and despite me seeing my dogs so rarely since leaving home/university, they still seems to love the fuck out of me. Cats because they're okay to give attention to I guess. I care for the ones I own, but I could never love them like I love dogs.
Dogs.
I like both, although it's a lot easier to leave cats on their own for long periods of time.
Dogs. A little more work than a cat, but you'll never have a cat fight somebody off of you in your life and I personally enjoy the pack treatment, than the sociopath treatment cats give. Dogs don't claw your shit up, they alert you to disturbances on the premises and a pack of dogs will scare most burglars away. Bunch of cats wouldn't do shit.

"Why not both?" You may all throw me into the air as Mexican music plays in the background.
Foxes are basically both combined, a bit like cat dog. I would have to choose a cat in this instance, while I love dogs, for me a cat would be much easier to look after.
Cat
Dogs. I find cats too small/fragile and can't play-fight with them
dogs, cats are fucking horrible.
I pick both, i have 5 cats and 4 dogs, love the shit out of all 9. Cats maul the shit out of my toes when i'm walking around the house in socks, but dogs piss in my shoes and shit on my bed, so that kinda evens it out a little. Unless the dogs and cats have made a deal where the dogs get to piss in my shoes, which forces me to walk around the house in my socks, so the cats can maul my toes.
Dogs, they're actually useful. They're with us through the best of times and through the worst of times.

Cats are just cute.
I prefer cats, while they may have no practical applications (and some dogs don't either) cats have more finesse than dogs, and they make nice company, with a dog every last bit of their personality and whether or not they have any real use other than as a companion (and if they'll even be good for that) is determined by the environment they grew up in and their breed(s).
Both, I prefer cats but I do like dogs too. Pyrenean Mastiffs are fucking awesome weighing sometimes around 100 kilos
Both.
