I'm going to college in August and need an ok, cheap netbook (basically for notes) and a TV tuner for my desktop. I was wondering if facepunch could make some suggestions as to what to buy. I figure bringing two monitors and a netbook AND TV is too much (my mom doesn't think so). I'd rather skip on the TV and just watch cable on my computer
The tv tuner has to work with Vista and Win 7

What kind of tuner do you need? DVB-C, ISDB-C or ATSC? (Depends on the country you live in). Also check if you have Media Center (Home Premium windows and up I think)
I have home Premium and I live in the United States
