ok so im trying to configure that intel smart response thing so my HDD can go faster.
i bought a 256gb samsung 840 pro and i partitioned the drive to a 192gb and a 64 gb partiton.
now i want to use that 64 gb partition as a cache for my 1tb HDD but the stupid intel RST software wont let me.
(the 192gb partition is where i installed windows)
you're supposed to click on this "accelerate" button

but for me that button doesn't exist!

yes i left the 64 gb part of my SSD as un-allocated space as the RST sofware requires you to.
yes my motherboard is set to RAID and not AHCI or IDE
yes my motherboard supports intel smart reponse
Have you done what it says in the 2nd post on here? http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19496495.aspx

just did all that and rebooted, the "accelerate" button still isn't there
I scrolled further down that thread and "titaneflash" has given a solution that someone said worked
that guy says you have to delete the partition and i do not have that option

never mind i figured out how to delete that (the main issue still isn't fixed)
this problem is still not fixed.
do i have to configure RAID in a certain way within the BIOS?
I FIXED IT
you cant use an SSD as both the boot drive and as an RST cahce. in other words you can't partition a 256gb SSD into a 175GB windows partition and a 64GB intel smart response cahce.
if i want to speed up my 1TB storage drive i have to purchase another SSD and not install windows on it
FUCK YOU INTEL
