Had a few questions in my mind, i bought the iPad 2 for my father to use for work.
The thing is really damn awesome and wanted to get myself one for 399 euro (16 GB WiFi, using my iPhone 4S as a hotspot to connect my iPad to it)
- Get one now? Or should i wait for the iPad 3 if that one is coming
- Is it possible to use this for school? In terms of basic use (Writing word documents and just browsing the web and saving shit)
- Would a Bluetooth keyboard be worth to buy? Like this
- How much are decent iPad games/apps?
- Is jailbreaking the iPad worth it once there is one? Are there jailbreak applications made only for the iPad that would improve the iPad alot? Like the iPhone has shit like SBSettings and such
- Get one now? Or should i wait for the iPad 3 if that one is coming
You can expect the iPad 3 to be faster than the iPad 2, and it'll have siri, judging by how the iPhone 4S went, if it sounds like speed is something you'll want on it then I'd say wait. You can probably expect to see it early 2012. I'd say try out your dad's iPad and if it feels smooth and fast enough for you, then go for it.
- Is it possible to use this for school? In terms of basic use (Writing word documents and just browsing the web and saving shit)
Probably yeah - just remember if this is one of your main reasons for getting one to consider a laptop. However the office apps are nice enough on it. Browsing the web on the iPad is great and comfortable (one of it's biggest strengths imo). As for saving shit though, it depends what you mean. You can't download stuff unless you jailbreak, however, iOS5 has the reading feature that will allow you to save full pages for offline reading and stuff. You can also use dropbox if you're needing some storage on the go and it does work along side the office apps. Also if you wanted you could buy wacom's iPad pen for note-taking.
- Would a Bluetooth keyboard be worth to buy? Like this
It would definitely help if you plan to use it for school, yes.
- How much are decent iPad games/apps?
A lot of apps are priced no different than iPod apps, so they're pretty cheap. Some games like to charge a bit extra because of the fact it's "HD". A lot of your standard apps that you would want are free or have free alternatives though.
- Is jailbreaking the iPad worth it once there is one? Are there jailbreak applications made only for the iPad that would improve the iPad alot? Like the iPhone has shit like SBSettings and such
Yes yes and yes. There is literally no downside to jailbreaking. A lot of iPad apps are universal so the layouts will be changed to suit the iPad. There's also iPad specific jailbreak apps like Fullforce which properly scales the standard iOS GUI in iPod apps to work nice in the iPad. SB settings and stuff you generally find on the iPod are all available for the iPad too.

-New iPad would come out any time between January to March, rumours say more power and a crazy 2048x1536 resolution or something.
-I use mine for university, its fantastic. Better battery life than pretty much any laptop and light and easy to carry around. Its easy to share information with your friends as you can just hand them it if you are doing a group project. Web browsing is brilliant so if you get wifi in your school or can tether 3G from your phone it will be very handy.
-I think so, I typed at least 1500 words today in notes and I was feeling pains.
-I paid 59p for Rage HD, and something similar for Doodle Jump. Depends on the apps and sometimes you get sales, most expensive I've seen is £6-7 so far and odd document editor is £13 (has lots of negative reviews, stick with Pages by the looks of it for £6.99). Few pounds at most for any good app.
-I understand jailbreaking greatly reduces battery life and stability. My only problems with iOS should be at least addressed in some ways in iOS 5 update tomorrow. Play around with it and see if you need to. I would never buy a tablet (my iPad 2 was free) but its a fantastic gadget, so polished and elegant to use. I don't like iTunes but can uninstall that when iOS 5 rolls around.
After some thinking i am sure my dad will leave the iPad in a corner some day then i will take it. Once i got that iPad i will wait for the new one and buy the iPad 3
Oh fuck a iPad thats full HD.. Now that would be fucking awesome

Also, thanks for the information, you guys where really helpful

(No sarcasm!)
2048x1536 iPad would be fucking awesome.
A6 will need to be a fucking beast though, and I wouldn't expect it to be used on the iPhone 5 (or 6? whatever it'll be called)
2048x1536 is too far fetched in my opinion, people said the same about the iPad 2. Not to shitthread or anything, but I find it highly unlikely. Anyway, you should probably wait for the refresh, as there's also new Android tablets coming out, some will probably have the Kai-El chip, which will be pretty motherfucking boss.
Its a lot, but you know how Apple is with dpi and everything, RETINA DISPLAY IPAD! they'd want to bump up the res. I personally don't think Android tablets are up to the level of polish iPads are at. Insane power is pretty useless when next to nothing uses it, I know my Galaxy S II is like that.

That was the thing i was thinking about.
The reason i want a iPad instead of a Android would be iOS and how the lineup works, all apps in the app store should run perfectly with other Apple products, while i expierence that with the Android tablet, that my friends tablet lagged a bit with lots of apps.
But even tho they just add a retina display and a 1080p camera, then i am already happy with it.
Dual core is currently fast enough for me on the iPad 2. I don't see a reason to get a quad core and anything higher

I still don't see Apple moving a lot of iPad 3s while using displays that would probably be pretty scarce.
After using an iPhone 4 for a year the 133ppi screen of the iPad 2 looks absolutely terrible
I still don't see Apple moving a lot of iPad 3s while using displays that would probably be pretty scarce.
Rumour also has it they made an order of 1.5 million displays for Q4, but that's rumours for you. It makes sense that they would opt for that.
The viewing angles and colours are fantastic on the iPad 2, even if you can see dem pixels.

Thats the reason i don't get it why people call their apps "HD"
Thats the reason i don't get it why people call their apps "HD"
Marketing, people always think HD=better
Thats the reason i don't get it why people call their apps "HD"
the ipad screen is 1024x768 which is a little better than 720p so therefore it is HD
but its a gay term for apps though

I never had issues with apps on my Asus Transformer. Tegra 2 processors are the shit.

Yeah i know thats not the problem
But just that most people are saying that i should buy a Android Tablet because the hardware is better.

Was an easier way for app developers to differentiate iPad apps to iPhone/iPod Touch Apps even though it clearly comes under "iPad Apps" on the search. Like Political Gamer said, "HD" sells more

Dude what.
720p is 1280x720, which is "larger" than 1024x768.
iPad with Retina display would be fucking ace. But what can they add? A better camera, siri.. What more?
More speed.
Quad core CPU.. Oh yeah, also.
They do not release the iPad 3 this year since their competition is far behind the iPad, kinda wished they did
I just got an iPad 2 about half a month ago. I go to a Uni here in Kentucky and I use it in all my classes, from taking notes, to doing math and typing small papers. It's extremely useful honestly.
I honestly don't expect an iPad refresh until June, so you've got awhile. There was evidence to support the doubled resolution screen at one point, though I'd have to dig it up. Either way though, it's a matter of if you want to wait until a refresh or not. Either way, I love my iPad 2, despite the poor resolution.
The iPad is fantastic as it is now, especially with the addition of iOS 5. Siri will probably come to the iPad later through a software update since the iPad is powerful enough to run it. A retina display on the iPad does seem unlikely.
The only thing it needs is a better camera, even though I don't use the camera on my iPad very much there's no reason that it shouldn't be at least as good as the iPhone 4's.

"far behind the iPad"
Isn't that a bit fanboyish to say? What brings it so far ahead of it's competitors?

No no, its not what i said. Its what Apple said, looking up the article
No no, its not what i said. Its what Apple said, looking up the article
Ahh, sorry, just looked at though it was you utterign an opinion. I know Apple said pretty much the same, but as it wasn't a quote, I was stumped.

You will want to wait for the quad core nvidia processors that are due later this year, they are about 5x faster than a tegra 2. Though, in 2014 they are supposed to have one that is 75x faster :v:

Every year there is something "better" on the market.
I just need to know when the Apple Keynote is, it always has a set date right?
Ask Google, it knows all.
I will ask the almighty
