I'm 15 years old. I've been trying to get a job for quite some time at McDonald's or Kroger or some other grocery store or something. None of them ever call back when I turn in an application. It's really getting on my nerves. Everybody seems to tell me to just mow lawns or get a paper route or something dumb like that. I want a real job so I can buy a less awful computer. I was wondering if you guys had any tips or anything for getting hired at a young age. Like, I'm sure some of you are young and have jobs.
You're too young to get a proper job. Anyone at your age who has a 'real' job is quite lucky. I've never seen anyone who is 15 and has a consistent real job. You'll just have to wait.
Even when simply handing in an application, be polite, personable, and make sure you've dressed nicely even for that simple occasion. You never know if you're handing that application into the random cashier fag or the really important manager guy responsible for interviewing you.
And remember to speak up and be proud, even if you're just saying "Hello, I've got an application to turn in." They're more likely to remember you if you don't let yourself fade into the crowd.
And they could just not be hiring. Don't just turn in apps to big chains, find some mom and pop stores, hit everything in your town. The only way to really get a job is to flood the whole town with your applications, which means you'll probably be devoting an entire afternoon to filling those things out.
Also, above.

Well that sucks.
Do some "off the radar" jobs for local people you know, like hauling some heavy crap around for someone.
Ask your parents. I got a job at my fathers company for a month in summer.
Working at relatives is good too, my uncle owns a washmachine delivery firm, so I usually help him at moving heavy stuff and other warehouse related things
Yea ask your parents, your parents can get you a job through there friends.
Go on craiglist and look at labor jobs.
I think Publix hires 14 year olds if there's one by you.
Hardware stores hire 14 and above where I live, try those.

Never thought of those. I'll check my local ones.

It peeves me how most people my age have better chances at getting jobs because they know more people than I do. I'm kind of reserved, and I can't be bothered with befriending the kids in my school, as most of them are morons.
Mow lawns.
:colbert:
I wanted to be a paper boy, but it turns out they already have a 40 year old doing it with a car. :saddowns:
deliver drugz
I got a job at my church bingo cleaning garbage at like 14. It was pretty good for cash. Now I work at a grocery store. Try to get connections with people you know, you have a better chance at a younger age with people you are familiar with.
Buy drugs cheap and sell them for more:10bux:
Learn to swim, then be a lifeguard. It can pay up to like 15 bucks an hour.
Get a paper round
Nothing bigger has kid jobs
15 is still child.
Paper Round? Handing Out Leaflets? Mowing the Lawn?
Tbh, I don't want a job and i'm about the same age as the asker...

I find it's a lot better to just adjust the way you behave around the so called morons than to act all high and mighty.

Grocery stores and fast food chains hire at the age of 14 and up.
You have to be at least 16 to get a job at most places. Also, it's not enough to just turn in an application. Call them every 2-3 days and ask to talk to the manager.
Alright man. That's where I was doing wrong, I suppose. Thanks.
I know a friend who's about the same age that teaches little kids how to swim and gets paid $15 a kid for each lesson the child receives. He built most of his computer on this money as well as bought a few video games with the money.

Become a prostitute.
It's not impossible to find work at that age. I got my first job at 15 working at a dental office. You definitely don't have to limit yourself to fast food, grocery stores, or paper routes. You just need to find something you are really interested in, and go for it. I'm 23 now, am about to start dental hygiene school and work full time as a dental office manager for a non profit organization.
First, you need to be sure to acquire a work release from your school. If you are under 16, jobs will require that you have this. You should be able to get one from your counselor's office or something. When you go to hand in your resume/application, dress professionally and be polite.
You should have no problem finding work if you are looking in the right places.
Good luck!
What about applying during summer? Do I have to wait until school starts in order to get a permit/release/whatever?

Probably not, but if you do get hired and want to stay employed during school, you might have to get one then.
