I need help buying a new CPU and Motherboard that meet, if not surpass the requirements of the Oculus Rift.My current CPU is 4x core AMD A8-6600K and my current MoBo is Asus A88XM-Plus. What would you guys recommend as replacements? (taking into account price as a factor too)
Thanks!
that's not a lot of information to go off. Do you just want to meet their recommended CPU? Do you want to surpass it, by how much - for how much? Your current motherboard is mATX, do you need mATX?
cheapest way to meet it on PCPP

(cheaper motherboards but this has decent ratings for a couple pounds more)
This is my MoBo http://www.amazon.co.uk/A88XM-PLUS-Motherboard-Socket-S-ATA-Express/dp/B00G3PR2W0
Would this be fine?

No you need a motherboard that supports Intel chipsets.
There currently is no AMD CPU that is really adequate for Oculus.
Oculus own recommendation is: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater. Which is what Shadez posted.
However, since the tech is so new everything is uncertain so if you want to be sure, go a bit more over the top with an i5-6600K, z170 motherboard and a Hyper 212 cpu cooler so you can overclock.
Also note that you will need at least a 400$ GPU to run it and the Oculus rift is 600$ as well.

I have a GTX 970 and a Corsair H55. I know the GPU will be okay but what do you think to the cooler? Also, any 1150 socket mobos you'd recommend? Thanks for your help so far also :)
I would wait for another generation of GPU and CPU.
The current hardware capabilities looks wobbly with VR, especially if they make a really nice looking game later.
I have a i5 6600k and I can vouch for its really easy over clocking and really nice thermal performance even with just a hyper 212
