go buy one
I just use the soldering iron to melt the solder, and hope it doesn't drip on my skin.
I had a bad experience with solder dripping on my finger once.
If you only have a soldering iron, the best you're gonna manage is to heat up the solder then quickly bash the edge of the PCB onto a hard surface. Really though, I'd get some braided copper and just remove it with that. Works even better than the desolderer shown above.
I'd get some de-solder braid.

Works better than the syringe type de-solderers and are easier to use.
Heat up solder, Blow hard.
Works a treat. And you don't have to fork over for some crappy tool.
*hands u magic solder remover, covered in blood, cheese, bacon greese, and ranch dressing*

I'll have you know that those "crappy tools" work well. I used the de-solder braid after i messed a circuit up and it worked a treat.
I'm vouching for the de-solder braid Rieda posted. Works like a charm.
Yes, desolder braid is the best way to go. You just place it on the spot to desolder, place the iron on the braid, it heats up and the hot solder wicks up it. Always keep some around when you are doing boards.
