It will last for the rest of your time here.
And you get GIF support for avatars, and access to the Gold Member forums and the Refugee Camp, I think. The Refugee Camp is where you get to go when you are banned by a moderator.
That's pretty much it as far as I know.
And you're also bound by a set of tenets and you have to pray to the Night Mother.

Don't buy goldmember, it's not worth it at all, and most golds seem to dislike people who buy it. If you buy it, don't expect to be welcome in the gmf.

I bought it. I didn't really care about the perks (I never took advantage of avatar gifs or anything), but it was nice to support FP.
