What's your maximum budget, and do you already have a monitor? Also, you'll need an optical drive. Already I'm suggesting the following instead: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5083733&CatId=4720 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5082126&CatId=4527 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4034139&CatId=2459 Also, is it really necessary to have that $250 case? If you're going for an expensive case you may as well get something like the Corsair Obsidian for $50 more.
ty for responding could you tell me the advantages to what you picked out over what I started with <3 and I'm looking at the case you mentioned now looks pretty good thanks for mentioning. edit: I would like to spend under 2k$
You put a i5 in it isn't the i7 better?
Marginally. Use the rest of the money to get him a nice monitor or two and maybe a few games. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049 x2
Ok thank you for the help going to sleep will look into the parts in greater detail tomorrow. Just one more question the answer of which I'll look at in the morning he wants to multi box some game or something like that he said it required more a fast processor is this a reason to get a i7 over a i5?
Marginally. Use the rest of the money to get him a nice monitor or two and maybe a few games. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049 x2
Why not this? A 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio to your 20,000:1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236075 To the best of my knowledge, the higher the contact ratio, the more color in the pixels in your picture. Also, what's your son going to do with that computer? Gaming? Rendering? Watching a couple million videos at once? [editline]09:16AM[/editline] And I would suggest getting the i5 if you don't plan on upgrading in the future. The i5 will chew up and spit out any game you throw at it. Get the i7 if you plan on upgrading to the i9 (6 Cores) in the future.

Oh, I didn't really notice. I was just skipping around since (with my addictive nature) I was about to play Modern Warfare 2. Get the i5, if you're going to get the i7, go with the 920 or above. [editline]09:58AM[/editline] Why are you going with TigerDirect? Why not NewEgg? It'll prob save you around 100 or more using the same parts. [editline]10:10AM[/editline] http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=8584869 $1,251.90 Use EMCMNMS72 for $20 off the case. Add on an O/S for another $100-$200. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116758 Also, you don't really need more then 4 GB unless you're doing something extreme. Does your son already have a mouse, keyboard and speakers?
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=8584869 $1,251.90
He can get 2 5870s if he wants.
I was planning on putting in a 5870 instead of the 5770 but the one you posted couldn't be added (Yes I tried to jack yours) so the 2x 5770 was on the top of my head. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150443 If you want, I think the 2x 5770 would do the same and it'll also be cheaper ($40 dollars)
He can get 2 5870s if he wants.
He'd need a much better PSU than the 650W to handle it, though.
He'd need a much better PSU than the 650W to handle it, though.
No he wouldn't.
No he wouldn't.
That consumption chart surprises me. o.o

Lol Rea, That made me laugh. The hearts and son stuff reminded me of that pedophile on facebook who added everyone and was like kthxbai <3. But ya, Good build. With the extra 800$... Get him a nice gaming keyboard and mouse and a good Headset xD
what the crap. My son also expressed intrest in liquid cooling, it seems like a daunting challenge to pick eveything out right so I found one that has everything with it is this worth it? Liquid Cooling will help with Heat... But I'm not that experienced with Liquid Cooling.. I only have one build with Liquid Cooling and I had to read a crap load of tutorials online to actually get it to work right. But, I did build it myself.
so what would you recommend as far as liquid cooling is the one i linked ok?

Get a megahalem instead.

Liquid cooling isn't technically needed as Quantuam is saying.. It's more for Show or for Extreme Gamers. With a i5, Not really extreme. Unless you intend to do some extreme overclocking... some fans and a good after stock CPU Cooler will do. I.E Megahalem

Another thing about liquid cooling. You will almost Never Find a good Pre-Built Liquid Cooling System.. All the extreme gamers build the Liquid Cooling System by themselves, picking out all the best parts and putting it together themselves for up most quality.
