If they do to Doom what they did to Wolfenstein, I'll be very happy.

I wish they'd just give Doom 4 to Machine Games.

They really, really fucking ought to.
The only way forward with Doom as I've said a million times already is the most outlandish, gory and DAKKA-filled game in existence.
The title should literally be Doom 4: Rip and Tear
Machine Games did do a good job with the newest Wolfenstein, so handing development of Doom over to them wouldn't be the worst thing.
agree with above.
take wolfenstein, put more closed corridors, more futuristic visuals, demons/monsters, more weapons, more gore.

Less dramatic plot though (doesn't mean less interesting, I just don't want another TNO ending)
give doom 4 monsters fully modeled internal organs and then let me shred them apart with authentic chaingun physics and bullets

Sir, I think you misspelled chainsaw.
They won't really be able to get by without putting one in, but I wonder if they'll go for the generic civilian model, or Doom's 64's outlandish militarized double-bladed chainsaw.

True that. For all the sick action that'd make an NRA gun-nut need to change his underwear, there was a bit too much grit and not enough wacky fantasticalities. Doom needs to have much more wacky science fantasy action and a main character that's closer to the Doomguy we saw in the comics rather than a guy who sounds like a gravel drive and doesn't quip when he does something awesome, even if he looks like he did back in Wolfenstein 3D.
I mean, guys like Lo Wang, Duke Nukem, Serious Sam, THEY know where it's at. They kick ass, chew bubblegum, make dick jokes, and generally get into the swing of things. The puns go with the image, and they're much more emotive and enjoying what they do, which whilst it may make them come across as psychotic frosted murder-cakes, that's just what they are, and they shouldn't have to uphold their image as an unwilling hero just to seem normal around whatever dorky support character they have on the line giving them hints.
In fact, they should embrace their nature as murderous supersoldiers, revelling in the slaughter and have a moderately hard time keeping it hidden when they're around their less gung-ho compatriots if any. Like if Doomguy rips and tears a demon in two with a battlecry to rival Brock Samson's primal yelling and the "Martian Buddy" in his head says "you're actually enjoying this, aren't you?", or if Tekla had a chat with Blazco and was slightly taken aback/intrigued when she finds out that B.J secretly revels in his Nazi-murderings, or if one time Sam returns to the secret hideout and is shown to have fashioned a necklace out of Gnarr teeth. THAT would be a thing to do.
True that, the first two definitely had a faster pace and better level design, even if Ross Scott isn't a minotaur. Don't get me wrong, mazes need at least some regulation to prevent them from becoming a chore with backtracking and nothing to shoot whilst you search for what you missed, but better to be lost in a maze looking at the map than have just a narrow linear corridor without any real exploration or resources to gather.
It's one thing to trim the fat and lessen the downtime, but it's another thing entirely to streamline an experience until there's barely anything left. And even then, I still think having a "fast-travel" teleport system for navigating a big level would be a pretty neat way to help shorten the downtime involved in backtracking, and coupled with acquirable maps it could allow for "unconventional" secret areas if the teleportation involves "warp-points" that you discover as you explore.

and my fists
Turn it into MGR but instead of slicing things up with a sword, you rip them apart with guns, bullets, plasma, and chainsaws
Machine Games made Wolfie light the fucking skies with awesomeness, one of the best fps of the last years honestly.
You just fucking wanted to kill shit in Wolfie. I imagine Machine Games could make Doom 4 be fucking amazing, especially if the went with the ultra fuck shit upper of everything way.
Wolfenstein kinda was like this, but not entirely, and that's good, because it wasn't meant to. Doom on the other hand is basically all about this, and Machine Games know what they're doing in this aspect.
give doom 4 monsters fully modeled internal organs and then let me shred them apart with authentic chaingun physics and bullets
Instead of cutting metal like in TNO, you cut slaps of flesh and organs.
im not sure where this whole "doom is about rip and tear" thing came from. play doom 1, or doom 2 (without brutal doom) and you will see its not "OMG RIP AND TEAR!!" at all. its fast paced, but atmospheric at times.
im not saying it shouldnt be fast paced, i dont want another doom 3. i just want another doom 2
My expectations are quite low when it comes to Doom 4. Last thing I heard, id Software wasn't doing very well. Management issues, bad work environment, and a good chunk of the technical staff left with Carmack.
they just need to do the opposite of doom 3, i should be able to run faster than usain bolt while changing directions almost instantly shooting a double barreled shotgun that reloads in a second which i have 500 ammo for and will be used up by the end of the level
I'd love it if Doom 4 was essentially a super high budget, demonic Serious Sam game. It won't be, but that would be the greatest thing.

Doom and Serious Sam are quite different from each other. While both are indeed fast paced first person shooters, Serious Sam is mostly about wide open environments with hordes of enemies spawning all around and coming at you in all directions. Doom on the other hand is more of a tighter experience with small corridors and big rooms, and each of these areas have smartly placed enemies, functioning to be a different challenge for the player in each area. People seem to always forget how original Doom was in this regard, and keep mistaking the core gameplay being either Brutal Doom or sprite-based Serious Sam/Painkiller.

Could we get Machine Games to make a RAGE sequel as well?

I can see that we all agree with the fact that people want internal organ physics in the next doom, right?

They did this quite well with the last Shadow Warrior: Fast paced, fuckshitup gameplay with some bits of plot.
It certainly wasn't a copy-paste of the original, but I'd be lying if I didnt enjoy the shit out of that game.

So basically Machine Games and Rebellion need to team up.
Even better, since Rebellion has the 2000AD license, a Doom and Dredd crossover. That would be great.
Doom 4 should basically just be a demon FPS gore simulator

Rebellion needs to go nowhere near DooM, ever.
Honestly they should send what builds they have to machine games and let them do the SP, and Nerve do the MP.

The rip and tear thing came from that Doom comic, and that's what most people think about now instead of Doom itself.
If they do to Doom what they did to Wolfenstein, I'll be very happy.
you mean ruin it
[editline]7th July 2014[/editline]
that new wolfenstein is beyond shitty, take an example and make a potential doom 2014 anything but that.

why were there chainsaws on mars
[editline]7th July 2014[/editline]
like seriously, they probably don't grow trees on the station and if they need to cut anything they have like plasma welders and shit like that!
why are there chainsawSSS!!
it's doom
