Well, I am a white (American) male with about as much individuality as a pool filled with water, so when I was forced to choose a language my freshman year I went with something interesting, German! After two years of German, my teacher promised me that he would start a Swedish club, where I could learn Swedish. A year has passed and the best he could come up with was Esperanto club, and truthfully I find that language very blan, so yesterday I set off on a quest to try to learn Swedish, I came upon the alphabet butchering every word I came upon with a smile on my face because I was enjoying it atleast. I figure pronounciation would come with time (maybe), so I would like to begin grammer. Sadly, I am a poor bastard so I cannot afford expensive language softwear and my parents won't let me pirate said expensive softwear. Now I know that Facepunch has a bunch of Swedes, who hopefully speak Swedish and could pity me enough to not only suffer reading through all of the crap above this, but to also give me some grammer advice. I am not asking for some help on school work, just hoping that someone would take pride in sharing their language with people who are lame (me). Thanks!
So what is it you need?
Personal language lessons or translations?

I have it and it's good.
You cannot just learn grammar yourself and if you do it will take you ages. It's easier to get the book, read the whole thing, then you will have something to build on.
Why would you even want to learn Swedish? Unless you are actually are planning on moving here or we somehow start conquering the world again, you will probably never use it anyway. What should you do? You should study German more thoroughly, after only two years of studying it you have hardly mastered it to the degree that you should start learning another language. Waste of time.
FUCK YOU, JAG ÄR SVENSK
/caps
oh and when you are using an "owning" form (don't know what it's called in english) don't put a 's after, for example
English: Johan's book
Swedish: Johans bok
Lär dig svenska för i helvette

Det han sa.
On a more serious note, Swedish is a pretty complicated language, of which a small part is guesswork, since there are many undefined grammatical quirks. For example:
En and Ett (An and A). Using the wrong wording will often get you sneered at, and yet there is no defined rule for which words use ett and which ones use en.
Some people say that words that "sound softer" (e.g. begins with a wovel) should use en while "harder" words should use ett. However, there are too many exceptions for this to count as a rule.
A simple way of getting it right most of the time is to translate a to ett and an to en, for example an elephant = en elefant, a table = ett bord. There is still a risk of cockup, though.
Varför lära sig Svenska? Det finns mer intressanta språk att lära sig, som Kazakhiska!
Why learn Swedish? There are more interesting languages to learn, like Kazakh!
Som du kanske märker, så är jag Svensk.
As you might notice, I'm Swedish.
I fully disagree with this thread. you should totally learn Norwegian.
Norsk er mye bedre enn Svensk.
Swedish is a cool language, swedish people are great people btw.
Lyssna inte på norrmannen...

Ett tips är att lära sig Latin, efter det får man en bättre förståelse för nästan alla europiska språk. lätt som en plätt!
A tip: learn Latin. After that, you'll have a better understanding for almost all western languages. Easy peasy!

Not really. They are not correlated whatsoever.
En bil - A car
En lampa - A lamp
En man - A man
En tjej - A girl
En båt - A boat
Ett äpple - An apple
Ett ägg - An egg
Ett öra - An ear
Ett öga - An eye
Ett erbjudande - An offer
And so forth..
Kalium - Potassium :eng101:

Jag är inte svensk
I HAVE NOT READ ANYTHING IN THE THREAD, so you guys know. But even if you're interested of Sweden and all. I personally think that the Swedish language in general is very clumpsy. It also affects my English more then I want to, it really annoys me. Especially when I try to talk.
Jag är inte svensk
jo det är du
Jeg er godt nok ikke Svensk, men Dansk.. De 2 sprog ligner meget hinanden alligevel.
Although I'm not Swedish, but Danish.. Those 2 languages look a lot like each other anyway.
And like some others said, Swedish is a rather small language and you won't have much use for it, unless you travel to Sweden some day of course.
Good stuff to know at a party/bar
Knulla = The action to fuck
Ska vi knulla? - Want to fuck?
Hon Knullade mig - She fucked me
Ge mig en öl - Get me a beer
(pronounced Je mey aen Oel)
