• Needing a new Graphics card
    18 replies, posted
I am in need of a new graphics card, I got a computer for Christmas, Its alright for source engine games and such, runs tf2 fine, but a buddy recently gifted me GTA4 and I cannot run it to save my life. I'd like a crysis capable graphics card. And no I'm not one of those "if I can't run crysis maxed out whats the point?"twats. I would just like an upgrade in the 200-300 dollar range. Current specs incoming.
What's your PSU? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150494 I'd say get this.
Is the only way to check the psu opening up the tower and looking at it, because all I was was a sticker with the Lite on logo.

It's from gateway and probably uses integrated graphics, so the PSU is probably bad.

well I opened it up, I couldn't find a model number or anything like that, how ever I did find on the sticker that it should not use over 450 watts.

A GTX 460 would be better suited for this as we can't be sure if anything else would fit. It also performs very well for the price.

You can get a GTX 470 for $279. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127501 but you need at least 550W PSU
Dual GTX460s (768mb or 1gb both kick ass), but you'd probably need a bigger PSU than 500. Get the PSU and one card and when you have the money get the second card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102871 Why did no one mention this, its even better than my original price range, and I won't need a new psu.

Because it sucks and won't run GTA4 any better than you currently can? [editline]03:10PM[/editline] Ninja'd.

GTA IV is an old game, and as such, doesn't take as much of a card to run. When you give us a price range of $200-$300, we provide the best card for that range, not the cheapest card that can do the job well.
My apologies, you are right, I ran into a financial wall and had to lower my expectations.
