Awesome! Ellen isn't a bad singer either. Did a great job without the voice FX.
Didn't know there was a 'gay'ming conference though.
It's a shame there's a separate conference for gay gamers. There really that much prejudice in the industry we can't all have fun together?
She looks like middle school teacher :v:
Gaymer convention
What the fuck is even the point, why does this even exist, WHY not just have a gaming convention
How would you even check anyway

Likeminds etc
also I'm sure this was a Kickstarted convention too.

Why would you invite Ellen herself to this, and not make an appearence on PAX, E3 or ComicCon?
Wasn't this whole Gaymer convention made by gay people for gay people?
Who cares why this convention exists, it's not even related to the thread
Wasn't this whole Gaymer convention made by gay people for gay people?
I'm sure it wasn't made with a "no straights allowed" idea in mind.

They don't check. You don't have to be gay to go, it's just that all the advertising and shit is aimed at gay people, so you wont see 'booth babes' or any shit like that.
The reason why gaymer conventions exist is because, at least statistically, gamers are one of the most discriminated groups within the LGBT community (that is, other gays look down on us), and gays are one of the most discriminated groups within the gaming community (that is, other gamers look down on us). Whether or not you agree with that being grounds for 'gaymer' conventions is your own opinion, but that's the logic behind it.
This is cute.
That was great. Such a nice thing for Ellen to do.
Ellen is such an awesome lady. I love every single voice she has done for games.
Just for the sake of whatever, I put her voice through Melodyne.

I mean if E3 were catered to straight males these DUMMIES might have a standing!
Oh hey there

But what about the lesbians
But what about the lesbians
Yeaaah people forget that lesbians aren't really turned on exclusively by scantily clad women. They're for men. Plain and simple.
That was pretty great. And why are people complaining about the Gaymer convention? It's a convention for gay gamers. That's just the target audience, it's not like they'll stop you at the door if you don't fit the bill. They don't throw you out of E3 if you're not a gamer.
John Patrick Lowrie is great on the banjo (is that a banjo?). Such a lovely, friendly couple.

She professionally did opera, at one time

Not to continue it, but its the sense that you'd think the ultimate goal is to rid of any sense of separation of sexual orientations... And yet there are conventions they make just for them, doing that just. Separating. Of course they won't kick you out if you're straight, but regular conventions won't kick them out if they're anything else.

Do you expect lgbt gamers to just sit on the sidelines while the regular gaming cons shape up? Fuck that. Until straight/cis people get their shit together, this will be a thing.

No, I never said nor implied any such thing. I never made any implications of "they should deal with it." Conventions have little to no homophobia or any phobia of any orientation, especially in my experience. There's nothing to deal with. And in this case, heterosexuals already have their shit together. "Regular" conventions don't kick LGBT gamers out, or make them sit on the sidelines. There's no need for separation. Anyone can go to a regular gaming convention, and any harassment is dealt with.
Ellen isn't a bad singer either.
She's an opera singer. Would be pretty awkward if she didn't have the ability to sing while being an opera singer.
Oh no people with similar interests gathering together making it easier to meet new people with said interests how HORRIBLE!
haha, Gaymer
Yeah, Jesus, why do you guys care that they want to have their own convention? Does it detract from you or from other conventions in any way?
Yeah, Jesus, why do you guys care that they want to have their own convention? Does it detract from you or from other conventions in any way?
A lot of people have this "ugh why does this need to exist? just go to e3" mindset.
Yeah, why do we have fandom-related meetups and conventions? Why can't you all just go to comiccon? It's the same thing, right?
I don't even know why you'd need a gay gaming convention, I neither see prejudice against homosexuality in the gaming industry, nor do I see games based around homosexuality.
Just seems like an excuse for a bunch of gay guys to get together to talk about video games.
