It's like this while in-game
So i've been playing Guild Wars 2 a lot lately, noticed I wasn't getting a very good FPS. Noticed my CPU was running at 96C. Any tips on how to cool it down?

Idle
Speccy isn't good for temperature measurement and can be quite off.
Try using RealTemp, HWiNFO64, and HWMonitor to determine an average temperature.

Well, I used HWINFO64 and this is what it gave me.

Yeah, that's way too hot. Try cleaning any dust out.
you could boil water on that shit

Almost, but effectually yes.
You should probably stop using your computer before your cpu explodes, see if its really dusty, see if the fan is even spinning, and well..that's all i can help with.
Make sure there's plenty of space around the case, if it's crammed under a desk against a wall, the ventilation will suffer.
Double check your fans, might be worth installing a couple more.
Also, I could be talking shite here, but is there a way to remove the heatsink and re-apply some thermal paste? Not sure if that's even possible or if it'll work, but if anybody knows their stuff they could maybe inform us more.
Alright well, I took out the CPU. So much dust I couldn't even see through it. Cleaned it out, and it's shutting off because I forgot to put on thermal paste. So now I gotta get that and put it on tomorrow.
Current temps now

Guess I should turn this off and keep it off until I get my hands on some thermal paste.
is the CPU fan even running or properly attached?
Yeah, it is. I triple checked.
Yeah, don't use it until you can get the thermal paste re-applied.
Yeah, on a spare computer right now. Hopefully after I get the paste on tomorrow, it'll run at normal temps and not idle at 85 since it's all cleaned out now.
Re-seat the heatsink. If it's not properly secured, temps skyrocket to exactly where yours are. Also, as mentioned by others, optimize air flow for your components.
My mistake, I didn't see the update. Just keep what I said in mind for future reference.

Shit man my computer runs at like 30's C and it heats up my room.
I'm surprised it took you so long to notice..
But yeah good luck with the clean out / new thermal paste.

His room wouldn't be getting hot as the heat is not being dissipated like yours is.
Alright, well I got a friend who owns a computer repair store. Took it over to him, we took it completely apart, got all the dust out, and re-applied the thermal paste. Should work fine now.

Make sure to give us a screenshot of the temperatures now.

I'd say that's better.
Wow, I actually cut the temps in half.

Much better, for certain. Make sure to clean out your computer regularly.

No you didn't. You reduced it by about 12%. Comparing temperatures like that makes no sense unless you use an absolute scale (e.g. Kelvin scale)
You'd probably need liquid nitrogen to actually cut the temps in half :v:
Just an FYI.
