• Would a GPU or CPU upgrade benefit me more

Thing is, for a GPU upgrade I'd probably wait for Nvidia's new cards (they might be really good and/or cause ATI's prices to drop). And I was thinking of getting a 5850 if I did end up going ATI. But a CPU upgrade might benefit me more (I have no idea), though I'd want an i5 or i7. BUT the CPU upgrade is more expensive since I don't have the right motherboard or DDR3 ram (and RAM has gotten fucking ridiculous this past year, my same RAM I bought a year ago for $40 for 4 GBs is $100) meaning the CPU upgrade is more expensive Anyways here's my DXDIAG because I'm a lazy fucker. And my GPU is a 4870 1 GB Also if I sold everything off (GPU, CPU, mobo and RAM) how much should I sell it for? The cash I got from it would all go twards the upgrade anyways. If I could sell it all off for enough I would just do both upgrades at once
Personally I would go for a cpu upgrade, although then again I would say buy a bunch of new stuff such as mobo, ram and i7 920 if you can. Otherwise go for an i5. Atm your Gpu is fine, 4870 is a fine card. Unless your really want Dx11 sure go for a 5850, but if I were you I would wait a bit more.
Get a Q9550 and overclock it to like 3.6 ghz if you really need a CPU upgrade
I wouldn't upgrade at all, tbh. Maybe do a bit of overclocking.
