Third parties don't like developing for Nintendo, what else is new.
Third parties don't like developing for Nintendo, what else is new.
"EA said it would not rule out working on a Wii U game in the future."
EA doing me a favour
Are they really THAT fucking butthurt about the whole origin thing?
Well to be fair, with being familiar with the xbox and PS3 and the next renditions of those having an architecture extremely similar to current computers they have a distinct advantage over the WiiU.
They also sound like game consoles, unlike WiiU.
Are they really THAT fucking butthurt about the whole origin thing?
No, they presumably don't see the Wii U being successful enough to justify development (for the time being).
they dont see wii u being successful but developers and publishers pulling out and not developing for it is part of the very problem theyre worried about.......
??????????????????????????????????
this is a form of panic selling. pretty much how stock markets crash n shit.
EAxpected it.
It's OK if EA doesn't like Nintendo anymore, because Mario doesn't need that Origin-bullshit
They are trying to justify not releasing sports game on the Wii U now:
"Ten months ago FIFA 13 was a launch title on Wii U. Although the game featured FIFA's award-winning HD gameplay and innovative new ways to play, the commercial results were disappointing. We have decided not to develop FIFA 14 on Wii U." - EA spokesperson
They didn't mention that the FIFA Wii U port was awful.

Vita suffers from the same problem. Everyone says Vita/Wii U has no games, but no one wants to develop for them because they don't have a big enough install base.
My brother (A huge Nintendo fan) and I argue which platform is worse off. I think Vita, since at least Wii U will have the usual line up of Nintendo games.
Good. I hope Nintendo goes under.

vita doesn't seem to have as strong of a "mascot lineup" as any nintendo console does so i would normally agree, however there are absolutely no new zelda, metroid, or kirby titles on the horizon for the wii-u, nor a mario title that isnt new super mario bros.
seriously, what are they doing and what are they sitting on? this whole thing baffles the shit out of me.
I don't know about you, but EA titles> Nintendo titles.
I'll get a ton of flack from nostalgia-retro-gaming-hipster-infantile-boys (the only people above the age of 15 who can appreciate Nintendo's original IP), but that's true. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Dead Space, Battlefield, Crysis, Army of Two, Command&Conquer are all leaps beyond Mario, Zelda and Pikmin. These are high-quality, cinematographic, immersive experiences - and no, I'm not talking just about the graphics.
Nintendo's IP, let's face it, is for kids. It has always been the formula, and there's nothing essentially wrong with it, if you recognize it. Simple, arcade-like, undemanding platformers. "REAL" franchises did pretty bad on Wii - remember Mad World, Dead Space: Extraction? Yeah, those people that buy Nintendo are either parents or grown-up people that can't part with their childhood. As far as I see it, the success of the first Wii was attributed to the current fad of being childlike and enjoying really childish things - it's now hip and cool for grown-ass men to piss their pants at Pokemon and be all nostalgic of the glorious golden past of gaming.
Nintendo cleverly cashed on it. Point is, for such a style of gaming, you don't need a powerful console. Tetris, for example, is still good as new and doesn't require a quad-core GPU. Therefore, Nintendo's hardware is tailored to sell this IP at a cost ratio between the console's price and the game's price.
But, in doing so, Nintendo had effectively locked itself inside its existing fanbase. When the Wii first came out, it expand on it, introducing the motion control sport games, but it was more of a gimmick. So now it regressed into two distinct target audiences: children and manchildren. However, the latter group is present only in the US, Japan/Korea and some Western Europe countries, where wealthy people can cash out 30 bucks for a rehash of Mario Kart.
I come from another country, one that never had access to the older gen Nintendo consoles. I can vouch that the Wii sales here are dismal, because the 30-year olds here have no nostalgic feelings for the Nintendo consoles or IP, so what people buy here is the Xbox, PS or do PC gaming.
Nintendo could do normally in such markets only if it began selling games alike those seen on other platforms, but it doesn't, because it has to uphold it's appeal for the existing fanbase. EA, I think, is well-aware of it. They'd have to waste money to adapt their game engines for the Wii, and then, when these games get released on Nintendo's consoles, the sales would be low, because the fans wouldn't buy them - firstly because they're available on better hardware, and secondly, because it's not Nintendo, it's not the bright kiddie polygonal mess they love.
So overall, it's a wise market decision. EA doesn't make content that had made Nintendo what it is, a company dependent on a preteen demographic. And Nintendo, in return, cannot stray away from that demographic without facing reputation risks.
So it's all natural.
So basically, I hate them because they make games I don't like, they create astonishingly underpowered hardware, rely on gimmicks when it comes to controls, and because I have no childhood attachment to them whatsoever. I never grew up with their games, so no nostalgia goggles for me. There are extremely few Nintendo fans where I live, and they're all huge anime / JRPG nerds (it's like all these fanbases merged into one) - my distaste for those fandoms also contributed to me disliking Nintendo. In my eyes, Nintendo fans are just as embarassing as bronies.

Saying Dragon Age is a good franchise in an argument automatically discredits this.

There is a difference between saying
"I hate this company "
And
"I hope thousands of people lose their jobs because I have a stupid personal vendetta against this company"

Also the whole Nintendo consoles only have kids games argument is total bullshit and anybody who uses it is an idiot.

I am not responsible for those people. I can't stop having an attitude on stuff just because someone might lose their job. Lots of people lose their jobs every day. Lots of people die of starvation, should I feel sorry for having 3 or 4 meals a day?

I never played a Dragon Age game, but I heard the first one is at least decent. If that is true, then you can't just dismiss the entire franchise just because most players disliked the second game.
It was either Mad World or House of the Dead that had the most "fucks" written in the dialogue out of any videogame, and both were on the Wii :v:
