As the title says, my harddrives just shuts down occationally. Sometimes it happens alot while sometimes it happens not so often. This all started after I bought a new motherboard, processor and memory.
I'm pretty sure the problem is that the wire between the hard drive and the motherboard is kind of loose or broken, because when I pull it out and push it back in the harddrive starts again
I highly doubt this is healthy for my computer, and it is EXTREMELY annoying to have to crawl down under my desk to pull out the cable and push it back in again and again as it all just freezes.
I really hope it's just the cable that is broken, what do y'all think?
Try the hard drive with a different wire?
I've tried that, didn't really help.
Odd, so absolutely nothing mechanically in the HD is moving, so it completely craps out?
ATA or SATA?
Yeah, theres a popping sound and it all just slows down and goes quiet.
And it's SATA.
Edit: I think I'll buy some new wires and see if that fixes it
Dead drive
and I'm hoping it's a seagate

I mean if it's not the connectors, you're sure they're plug in right, PSU is great, and other drives are working right. then it's a bad drive
Okay, thanks for the quick replies.
