• RAM for gaming computer

Having spent the better part of two months deciding on bits and pieces for a gaming comp I'm somewhat burnt out with it all, and RAM seems to be a particular minefield for a newbie. I intend to get something that will be capable of a minimum of 30 fps on Skyrim (if higher, even better), and what I understand so far is a frequency of 1600 or so with 8-8-8-24 latencies would fit the bill. I'm also wondering if there's any point going for 6 or 8 GB over 4, would I see any difference/how would it affect non-gaming tasks? (Most graphical stuff I ever get up to is mucking about in GIMP). Many thanks.
RAM is probably the easiest to buy, other than HDD's. Basically you want DDR3, 4GB would be enough and about 1333MHz - 1600MHz You would only really need 8GB if you were doing alot of rendering, etc... Stick with 4GB of RAM. Just so long as you keep it DDR3 and at or above 1333MHz. Anything above 4GB is more for game designers and movie editing.
4GB is plenty, 1333Mhz should have much of a difference compared to 1600Mhz. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231425
Ah yes, the Corsair Vengeance. I had stumbled across that, although I had no idea whether it was a good choice or not. Thanks for clearing that up for me! The rest of my current components will be: Processor i5 2500K Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 (B3) Power Supply Antec TruePower New TP-650 Heatsink Titan Fenrir Graphics Card GeForce GTX 560 EX OC I haven't yet decided on HDD/SSD or an optical drive, or indeed any peripherals. I hope there aren't any glaring compatibility errors I've managed to overlook?
If you're loaded. I suggest getting an SSD as your master and a 1tb as your slave. Super fast start up.
The ssd should probally be the last thing you pick, when all the other part are to your likings. Might aswell use that money to get a 570.
I wish I was loaded. :tinfoil:
