• Sony Laptop CPU Temperature High (60*C?)

'Ello, I have a Sony Vaio Pro 13 and I'm working on a lengthy Word document, i-Tunes, and Chrome running and my core temperature is wavering around 60 degrees Celsius. Should this be concerning? It seems like that's really hot/can cause harm? If the temperature remains like that for a prolong time (~8 hours) could that be harming anything? Oh, specs for the hell of it: 8 gb RAM, Intel i7-4500U @ 1.8 GHz, 64 bit Windows 8 (not 8.1) Thanks! edit: also, I Googled around and found the "Safe" operating temperature for it is 100*C, but I'm still wary. You can really feel the heat if you put your hand by the fan or set the laptop on your lap.
Hey Bill, I think your running you're machine a little bit too hot there bud. Try to cool it down some, I know plenty of sound cards on Sony Vaios that, when heated, can cause multiple palpitations and lead to a kleidoscope of further problems for your rig. Happened to me once while I was vacationing in the Maldives. Except, when it happened to me, the heat spread to my ram and I couldn't play Tony Hawk's American Wasteland for weeks. Shitty time mate.
60°C is fine. If you're worried about it, pick up a cooling stand.
60 is fine, nothing to worry about.
Laptops run way hot. Sometimes mine has topped at 205 degrees f, around 99c They're designed to run that hot. Just looked it up, that processor was tested to 100c at Intel. You got a crazy gap to fill before you need to worry Edit Saw your edit. Don't worry
If you still want to try and keep your temperatures under control (and even though laptop components are designed to handle higher amounts of heat, I still recommend that you do so to extend its lifetime and reliability), one of these two cooling pads should do you just fine depending on the size of your laptop (length of one corner to the opposite corner in inches) and the kind of cooling you're looking for. It should distribute the air rather evenly across the underside and it even has two USB ports installed so you don't lose any functionality.[/url]
Does the laptop chassis run hot at all? If not, you have nothing to worry about. The temperature computer components tend to run at is surprisingly high.

Thermal stress on laptops is one of the primary causes of premature failure.
60 is nothing to worry about. If it gets near 80 or the fan turns into a jet engine while your laptop is doing nothing, you might want to look into cleaning your fan out.
