So this morning I woke up and kept getting warnings that my iphones memory was almost full, which couldn't have been right because I have barely anything on it that would take up 16GB. The battery also started draining as fast as fuck and my iphone was munching away at CPU. Apparently, the third party app that most of us know called "Rock" took a dump of gigabytes in our iphones and ipod touches today. Another reason the app is shit. Whats more it's nothing useful, just a shitty log file.Enough of the chit chat, if you've got this problem what you want to do is remove rock, and it's it's dump.
First thing you need to do, is reboot your iphone. The log file (which is the file that is taking up all your memory).

Second thing you want to do, is get into Cydia and remove rock. (If you have something like Cydelete, don't use it for this. Use Cydia.) (if it doesn't remove, try using the blackrain app to remove it)

Last but not least, you should get an app like iFile, and remove the RYP folder from var/mobile/Library/RYP or SSH into your device.
There's no word out on why this actually happened, it's probably just a huge assed glitch. But it effected a lot of people on one of the forums I lurk. I wanted to post it here in case you guys have this problem, and are about to go restore your iphone like I was going to do. But there is no need. Update: Apparently this doesn't work as well as I thought. It seems to have only done the job temporarily for me, as this morning I had the same problem. Update 2: It does work. However, you must make sure that Rock is gone, or updated. (A patch came out to fix it today) Find a way to do one of these, and restart your device. Problem solved.
I hate Rock.
I never liked Rock. As soon as I see it I remove it somehow.
It would be better if I'd never heard of cydia. Just like Mac's would so much cooler if I had one as a kid.
I just got this today, fixed it by a reboot. Must have came back with a vengeance for deleting it's log. It pretty much bricked my phone.
Dammit Rock, I used to like you. I won't lose everything I got with it will I? [editline]05:14AM[/editline] Now I keep crashing to safe mode after I did what it said to in the OP, and it says I somehow have 12gb of apps :\ [editline]05:19AM[/editline] Rebooted again and it went back to normal.
I used to like RYP until they pulled this stunt. They totally pissed me off.
I doubt this was intentional, but yeah. I never really use either anymore, I just get everything I need from sites and put it directly on my iPod.
I rarely use either as well. 90% of the stuff I do when I jailbreak, I do immediately. The only thing I really do with the jailbreak, is I download youtube videos, and I collect wallpapers from /wg/ and make people jealous at my school.
Rock released a patch a few hours ago that fixed this. It's still better than Cydia. At least I don't have to wait 5 fucking minutes per load to use it.
Actually. This doesn't work. I woke up this morning again with the same problem, and rock isn't even installed. Okay seems like Rock has made it back on my iPhone somehow.
Actually. This doesn't work. I woke up this morning again with the same problem, and rock isn't even installed.
I never had this problem with a un-jailbroken'd iphone, while the jailbroken one did have a similar issue
I never had this problem with a un-jailbroken'd iphone, while the jailbroken one did have a similar issue
It's definitely to do with Rock. I just can't find a way to remove it from my device. I'm not prepared to restore my device into a normal iPhone without jailbreaking it. You lose too much.
Rock is installed on my 3GS, and I don't have a huge-ass other. I kinda prefer rock to cydia, at least it doesn't take 3 weeks to start up
I use Icy, it's better than both Cydia or Rock. Rock failed to install using blackra1n after a fresh jailbreak, so I was forced to use Cydia to install Icy.

It's good though if you know what you're looking for.
Cydia takes ages to load when you still have auto refresh on or your recent list has about 60 refreshs in it
Cydia takes ages to load when you still have auto refresh on or your recent list has about 60 refreshs in it
Yeah. Anyway. Lets keep the thread on topic.
Wondered why my iPhone said it had no space left, I had a couple of hundred megabytes free last night. I sadly have to have Rock because of a paid app I use from it. :(

Was stuck in an eternal reboot, had to restore it. Unfortunately I didn't have a signature thingo so it was off to 3.1.3 for me. Ah well, I'm not too concerned.
