Damn, Lords of Shadow 1 is still on my backlog.
I had no idea this was a thing, what a surprise.
The first one is absolutely gorgeous, and seems very lengthy so far. For this new one, they really, really need more fluid combat with combos that have a much larger impact compared to the the first game if they want to win me over completely. Also, please speed up the water-treading speed like in the swamp; that was unbearable.
I got a demo of this with the Lords of Shadow ultimate collection on PS3, and I can tell you, it is far and away better than the first game.

I played a fair bit of the demo and eventually got asked to step away because of the time spent on it, to the amusement of my colleagues. I think I even got asked about my opinions on the game back then, and it got on some website according to my fellow students. And now, after all those years, I bought the Ultimate Edition for PC a day or two ago. After all these years, it's time to finish what I started.

It looks and plays amazing! It also runs absolutely fluent while looking gorgeous! And you can finally move the camera.
The first one was a pleasant surprise for me, and I actually expected it to be good. Definitely going to be picking this one up.
I was gonna play the first one to catch up on the story but then I read the Steam description so now I don't have to.
The demo was a HUGE amount of fun, I am actually pretty excited to try this now. Plus hearing Robert Carlyle snark as I whip my way through hordes of soldiers is prettymuch amazing. It looks pretty nice, it ran buttery smooth, and the combat feels better than the first one, the camera can be moved, and finally, the gothic horror theme is nicely realized it seems.
So, apparently games from 2005 look better than this:
