I'm headed to North Carolina for a week and it's going to be boring as hell. I'm looking for some decent games to play while I am there. My system specs are:
Intel Celron CPU 900 @ 2.20 GHz
3.00 GB RAM
Intel Media Acceleration Integrated Graphics
So yeah, its a POS computer. A few games I have already played and have include, The Half Life series, Gmod, DOD:S, CS:S, Minecraft, COD 1&2, GTA:SA, BF2, FLight Simulator 2002, Halo: CE, and Portal. My computer barely handles gmod and portal as it is. I tried to play fallout 3, but I only got like 10 fps on low settings doing that. I prefer first person shooter games, but I am up for anything. I am also into modding games, as long as its fairly easy to do. I had all kinds of crazy mods for GTA:SA. I would be interested in learning to mod Halo:CE, but I don't have any idea where to start.
Anyone who knows any great games I can run, I would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.
If you have friends who are up for it, Terraria. Kerbal Space Program runs acceptably on my GMA945.
Have you tried -dx 81 as a launch option for Garry's Mod? Might help a bit.
Some suggestions: Sim City 4, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, most things from the Humble Bundles, Super Meat Boy, the older Unreal Tournament games, Xonotic (Free), Robot Arena 2, Kerbal Space Program (Free), Terraria, Roller Coaster Tycoon, OpenTTD, Worms Reloaded.
Yeah I have played terraria, I don't really like it that much. what you can build is really limited by the 2d atmosphere. I play Minecraft a lot because I like to build things. I will definitely give those other games a shot though.
and what does the -dx 81 thing do? I have screwed with those launch options a little to get gmod to a windowed view, but that was it.
Nethack :v:
Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup
Dwarf Fortress
FreeCiv\Civilisation I
Shitload of old DOS games like Dune2, Dangerous Dave, Commander Keen, various Quests
Sid Meier's Pirates! (2003)
doom
Trackmania Nations will probably run well on low/medium if it can run gmod/HL2

I love that game.
You also might want to try some of the Quake based games like Warsow, and Tremulous.
Isn't it more like -dxlevel 80?

Don't forget about the free games: Tribes (old, yes, but still alive, and still fun), Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Alien Arena (I've talked extensively with the lead developer of this game... smart guy), Nexuiz, Combat Arms, Trackmania Nations (find this one on steam, it's not that hard), etc. You might even try .kkrieger. It's barely a megabyte, but looks like it's worth so many more.
GTA 1 & 2 are free, you could try those.

Get Oolite if you're into space sims (or if you have ever played Elite)
Quake
Spelunky
I have a slightly worse computer:
CPU - Intel Pentium 2.16 GHz
RAM - 2GB DDR2
Graphics - Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family
(And it's a 2 year old laptop)
I can run these games at around 20-30 FPS: (Max settings, except for minecraft)
Half life 2 series
Portal
TF2
CS:S
Gmod
Minecraft
And I can run these games at 40-50 FPS: (Max settings)
Trackmania United Forever
Hitman: Blood Money
All of those games run fairly well overall, and they are all great games.
Edit: I read the OP again and realised you listed a lot of the games I listed... Oh well. I hope this still helps.
After reluctantly spending $5 on it I can also say Dungeons of Dredmor is a blast.
hexen 2. extreamly confusing, use a walkthrough
Urban Terror - fun multiplayer FPS based on the quake 2 engine (mind it looks very good for it's low graphics requirements)
Assault Cube - also multiplayer FPS, but this one can be maxed on a system that is 10 years old.
Minecraft - might run on lowest settings/fog
HL2 might run, not sure
UT2004
Trackmania sunrise + nations
NFS Underground 2 + Hot Pursuit 2 (best NFS games)
COD1, maybe 2
Civilization 3
these are all games I ran on my old laptops..
Dwarf Fortress
Deus Ex
Frozen Synapse
Terraria
And pretty much anything in the Free Games That Don't Suck threads.
Ace of spades is a really fun free online multiplayer game that can work on almost any computer...
UT1999 runs FLAWLESSLY on intel graphics chips. Even with settings all the way up (:v:) UT games run smooth.
HATEMOO is a text-based game you play over telnet. As long as you have an internet connection, chances are you can easily play this. You'd need a telnet client, or a dedicated MUD client like MUSHclient to play it, though. Connect to aftertheend.org at port 7777. I pretty much play this game exclusively on my similarly old laptop.
Quake III Arena
All of these are free. You should check them out.
Nethack is a cool fantasy roguelike.
Dig N' Rig is an indie game created by Digipen.
Liberal Crime Squad is a text based game where you attempt to save the country from evil facists
Cave Story is a 2d adventure shooter translated from Japanese.

Witchcraft.
Raptor
