Hard drive slowly dying? Making weird "kracking" noise

Not so much more to say than it's a weird sound.
It's over 7-8 years old.
It's been sounding like this for over 1 year I think.
Can't really notice anything slow or weird with it but still want to ask if you guys know what the sound is. Been looking around for dying sounds on hdds but could not find this sound.
It is also the hdd I'm having my OS on (I think)
Hdd is "279GB Seagate ST3300831AS (SATA)" (copied from speccy)

Need more info just say.
back everything up
Run seatools to check for errors. Could be the mechanical motor is failing. I'm in class so I can't listen to the video for a better idea. Definitely back up, if the actual motor fails, the only way to get data is in a clean room setting and thay can be several thousand dollars.
I can't exactly see in the video, but when these noises are going on, is the hard drive activity light turning on at the same time?
Might seem like a very "duhh" question, but seeing the age of the hard drive as you posted, sometimes older Seagate drives make more noise than newer drives when accessing data. Maybe you just didn't notice the sound until around a year ago?
And have you noticed any data loss or damage on the drive since you noticed the sound?
My drive sounds worse. When it hold the drive in my hand it feels like it could move around when it hits the walls that hard. It's scary but as long as it works I don't care. Backup everything just to be safe.
Like the others said, back everything up as a precaution, and if you'd like you can try using HD Tune Pro to check its health.
Even if it was fine though, I would get a new one at this point. 7-8 years is a pretty long lifespan for an HDD and it's bound to fail sooner or later.
To be honest, that sounds kind of normal to me, I have an old laptop that makes that noise very often, and the thing's been running for almost 12 years now :v: But I would say definitely make a backup just in case of failure, and if it does fail, just replace it, a drive that small shouldn't be too spendy to replace.
Thanks for the answers people.

Really nothing to back up. On that hdd I ONLY have my OS and maybe some images. Everything on my computer is on other hdds

Nothing at all.

Will try when I get time

I got 2 of them and only one sounds weird. But I would like 2 new but my wallet says no
Think that answers most of the questions.
Again, thanks. I will run some tests on them when I get the time and see how they live.
