Alright, it's my first time building a computer, where do i get the parts, and what components are needed to build a cpu?
Newegg, if you're in the US.
what are the components that I need? I mean how do i tell if parts work with each other? (i never really payed attention to that stuff) I know how to build a computer, I just dont know if parts are compatible.
what do you need to build a CPU? silicone I would imagine.
Motherboard
CPU (Processor)
Graphics card
RAM
Hard Drive
Power supply
Optical drive (DVD burner/reader/whatever)
Case
Operating System
Then, if you don't already have them, you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. of course.
Compatibility:
Motherboard AM3 socket = These AMD CPU's
Motherboard 1156 socket = These Intel CPU's
Motherboard 1366 socket = These Intel CPU's
Most modern motherboards take DDR3 RAM with 1333MHz to 1600MHz speeds.
Once you know what cpu/gpu/number of hard drives and other specific stuff, then figure out how much power you're going to need. You're probably going to end up with something between 650 and 850 Watts, unless you're rich and can afford like tri-SLI 480 GTX's, then you'll be wanting at least 1000W.
