They'll do it as DLC for BF4, similar to Vietnam for BFBC2 I bet.

I just accidentally remembered how DICE once said something along the lines of "Well in our experience with free content for BFBC2 (maps with switched game modes) and everyone freaking out over it, people don't like free content". Good times, thanks for reminding me.
On the topic, very doubtfull. BF2142 wasn't a commercial fail, but it wasn't... that successful, sadly. DICE clearly will interpret it as futuristic setting just sucking balls and has no place in their Battlefield series. Besides, it would require at least some creativity (however I would've been totally satisfied with just a copy-paste remake of BF2142, and then I would have asked for more) which DICE just outright lacks.

It sold well but only about as well as Battlefield 2, which in EA-backed AAA shooter franchise world means it was mediocre.
Clearly what we've learned here is that a 2142 game needs to be made, and EA as a company is a woman and not a man, ergo the lack of testes.
I really doubt DICE could make a 2142 sequel that lives up to the original, considering how they've handled BF3 and 1943.
"You wanna go m8? we'll make that sequel, sware on our mums" -DICE
I would really like to see more of that "second cold war" universe. Hell it even has potential for a singleplayer campaign, which DICE seems to be really into lately...

1943 was just a little arcade title. Look how much fun BC2: Vietnam was.

That's what I meant, yes. And from what I remember, it sold actually worse then BF2, but not by much.

Vietnam was just as much of an arcade compared to BF2 and BF2142. It was fun, yeah, but... that doesn't prove anything really.

If they're going to make 2143 a terrible xbox arcade game or a half assed tacked on expansion DLC, I'd rather them not do it at all and risk soiling name of the best game in the series.
I still have fond memories of 2142. I really need to re install my copy.
I like 2142 but my copy is vanilla so it's dead as fuck
DICE got wreckd

1943 was a good arcade title though. The only issue is that they never brought it to PC.
EA stole Dice's balls a long time ago.
but neither 1943 nor vietnam were shitty arcade games/tacked on dlc respectively
1943 was a garbage xbox arcade game, BC2:V was tacked on DLC, half the weapons in vietnam were just reskins of current weapons in game, so they wouldn't have to do any rebalancing.
1943 wasn't garbage, I'd buy the shit out of it if it was on PC.
BC2 Vietnam was fun, but I actually preferred the base game. That said I prefer the base game over all other Battlefield games (though 2142 comes pretty fucking close) so that's not saying much.
They'll do it as DLC for BF4, similar to Vietnam for BFBC2 I bet.
I hope not. I'd rather have 2143 be a fully fleshed out game.
Problem is they're milking the battlefield series. Don't get me wrong .. awesome graphic .. ect.
But what is the new part/theme besides: "We updated our engine"?
The 2142 universe and setting is deep, rewarded teams with gadgets/tools. Heck your commander can move the base to a more tactic place.
This is the stuff that changes the "omfg 360-n0sc0p3" (Aka MW3) tactic to teamwork and the use your gadgets.
Sadly the BF2142 got underrated for some strange reason. :\
I would give my left nut for this game. Shooting up to the titans on pods and then trying to blow up the reactor was the most fun I think I've ever had in a game ever.
Black Ops II did it and that game sold like crazy.

I got the deluxe edition but didn't grab my northern strike key from the website you're supposed to get it from or something, and now the site's dead.
It's sad because Battlefield 2142 really was the last of it's kind. I doubt a game like Battlefield 2/2142 could ever be made again.

I really hope, though...

Call of duty is like modern pop music, it doesn't matter what its about its marketed at idiots that don't know there's anything better. That's why so little changes, they know its gonna sell like crazy so they don't bother putting much effort out on the content.

People buy CoD because they like it, not because they are idiots who don't know better.

See, Call of Duty isn't really a bad game/series. You may dislike the gameplay, but looking at it mechanically, it's a good game, if unbalanced in areas.
The horrible part of it is its player-base, community, and effects on the industry as a whole.
1943 wasn't garbage, I'd buy the shit out of it if it was on PC.
I really enjoyed 1943.
A lot of the players weren't that good though, typically always topped the scoreboards.
