That's because the female voice actor had no idea how to not speak in a bland monotone and uninterested voice
not a surprise its not like its one of those games where all the playable women are showing off everything
That's because the female voice actor had no idea how to not speak in a bland monotone and uninterested voice
Give her more credit, she's done like a hundred video games before such as Metal Gear Solid.
It's a shame really, It makes the story a much more interesting one. Check this guy's article out, he explains all of the reasons to play as a female instead of a male: http://www.destructoid.com/love-hate-a-plea-to-play-as-a-female-shepard-157515.phtml
I played a lady shepard because I made a design that looked a lot like this:

Too bad I lost my real screenshot from ME1

Infact... It takes out a decent bit emotion outa shepard. ESPECIALLY when you talk to Legion. The only /reason/ why people would want to play female is so they can have girl-on-girl romance. Oh, and I've read those bullshit "reasons" as to why anybody should play female. The whole fucking thing consists of "You should play because it feels different in the end", and or "Female voice acting'
Oh and she also looks like crap, not aesthetically, but in terms of polygons and textures.

If I don't believe a performance it takes a huge chunk out of my potential immersion in the game.

Bastilla's is were its at.
To be honest I've never been a fan of femshep. She looked powerfully ugly with her default design in ME1 and the other choices were only slightly better, and I really didn't like her voice that much. It reminded me of nails on a chalkboard(and I really don't give a crap who showed more emotion when talking).
Only because I feel weird playing a female
I prefer to play as a male in any game because I'm male.
there can only be one shepard and that is man shepard
I played Female Shepard throughout ME1 and 2... ...probably only because I didn't want to stare at the ass of male Shepard... ): Oh well, good to know I'm part of the 18% that played female when I'm really a guy. I like the females voice actor a lot better, too.
I played the female Shepard not for the ass, plot line, or voice acting - I played as a female because I'm bored sick of playing gruff space marines.
I played through the first mass effect as a maleshep, then as a femshep. I didn't actually feel any different, and it is actually pretty hard to understand why people bitch and moan about the two. Playing through ME2, I played though as maleshep then as femshep, and admittedly I felt that Femshep was overall better (given that I wasn't doing it just to pop my rocks at some lesbian gurl on girl hard hot oily xxx adult action) It's a tiny bit funny, how the whole femshep vs maleshep thing is actually entirely opinion, and yet people are still shitting in to eachothers mouths, typing in all bold text (read: retarded faggotfuckfuckerfucks) to make their opinion better than others Also, it's pretty evident that those saying the female voice actor is terrible were dropped on their head as a child, or beaten. As her previous work is pretty much the only evidence needed to say otherwise. You don't get to voice so many good things without yourself being good (or irish) [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
I played the female Shepard not for the ass, plot line, or voice acting - I played as a female because I'm bored sick of playing gruff space marines.
admit it, you did it for the lesbian moments
Female Shepard is clearly superior in the localized versions of the game though
I played ME1 as FemShep twice (first and third), and MaleShep in the middle. I preferred FemShep. However I did not think MaleShep was bad. I got a warm feeling in my heart from playing as the former though.
default male shephard is most badass
I play both, usually MaleShep is leaning more on paragon, while FemShep is leaning more on renegade, then after a while I'll replay again only alignments are swapped
I play female in most games but it just feels wrong in mass effect
renegade femshep is the best because she sounds like she's permanently in pms mode
Don't mind which I'm playing, as long as I can romance Liara.
Give her more credit, she's done like a hundred video games before such as Metal Gear Solid.
if anything that should open her up to more criticism because her voice acting is so fucking abysmal in this game she should have the experience to do it well.
I preferred Female, even though that playthrough was my second Sometimes, Male shepard just felt like an empty person who said what you chose him to say, but the female shepard felt more ''real'', maybe it was because i was playing as a renegade then but i don't know And before anyone says ''you did it for the lesbian moments'', i romanced garrus in that playthrough actually fuck that i like male shepard better
That's because the female voice actor had no idea how to not speak in a bland monotone and uninterested voice
Are you kidding, femshep voice actor was 100x better than maleshep voice actor [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
if anything that should open her up to more criticism because her voice acting is so fucking abysmal in this game she should have the experience to do it well.
i seriously don't get this its fantastic, especially better than the guy voice actor are your ears broken???
I play both on 2 saves, 2 classes. Hey that works too.
male shepard is in all the promos (or used to be I don't know how it is lately) so it feels like that's who he is which is why I picked the default in both games
