Well, i recently just got rid of a rouge virus and i was wondering:
which anti-virus/anti-spyware is best?
I personally think that windows defender is good, it was made by microsoft and was made to only be installed onto windows only(it validates that your OS is a genuine copy of windows when you first install it)
nod32
malwarebytes works good for quick removal
i have kasperski and it works fine
I use MSE because it's lightweight and I never see it ever. Ever. And it's ranked among the highest.
Nod32 + SpybotS&D= Awesome.

You sure you even have it enabled? :v:
I'd say either NOD32 or AVG.
I use NOD32, never let me down, so far anyway.
Best free ones I tried are:
avira antivir free (only bad thing is the updates, it takes a shitload of time..)
mse (new and it's what I'm using now, mainly because avira's update system is a boner killer)
avg (good but got bloated as of 2008)
avast! (haven't tried it for 2 years so it may be better now..)
in that order
Put a condom over your HDD, you wont get infected!
Avast!
Microsoft Security Essentials

Yes. I see it in the systray flyout.
Microsoft Security Essentials + Common Sense works well for me
Microsoft security essentials + Spybot S&D just incase
I used to love McAfee because of the disk optimization but my time ran out and now i got AVG and Norton360
Using the Nod32 beta version atm.
Free, full-functioning and no nagging trial shit.
MSSE is good, infact.. probably the best for a lightweight scanner, I never get any viruses though... so I don't exactly know how well it does it's job. According to online reviews though it does it's job just as good as AVG, etc.
AVG has never failed me and I use the free version :P
Avast! :yarr:
Mse.
Common Sense 2010 Pro.
AVG has always been the bottom tier of protection to me. Unless they changed it recently, the free version does not include any sort of rootkit detection.
I would say MSE, Malwarebytes, and a bit of common sense is your best way to go.
Common Sense 2010 Pro.
You know that won't work.
MSE. It's pretty good and a full scan will even by default scan all the PCs on your network, which led to MSE catching a (windows) virus on my Mac :v:
It seems pretty quick at scanning too.
comodo and avast
I use Kaspersky and it hasn't let me down. Best AV I've had.
To save a bit of money, buy the previous version of Kaspersky, download the latest version from the Kaspersky site and use the key from the old version. Works a treat and saved me about £10.
For anti-virus, I use a mix of speed and virus-catching performance to determine which is the best, and I recommend Nod32 for that reason. For anti-spyware, nothing beats Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Common sense
