• Need a good LGA775 air cooler

I'm currently running a q6600 (2.6GHz) on the stock heatsink, It reaches about 65 degrees when running Prime 95 on stock clocks. Basically, I want a good heatsink £35 or under that will cool my CPU well. I may do some slight overclocking in the future, nothing too serious though, Probably not even touching the vcore. I have a Thermaltake Tsunami case so size shouldn't be an issue. Oh and also, My q6600 hasn't got G0 stepping. I was thinking of the following but I just don't know which is best... Scythe Infinity [img_thumb]http://forums.overclockzone.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=120551&stc=1&d=1206893811[/img_thumb] Tuniq Tower 120 [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Tuniq_Tower_120_Installed.JPG[/img_thumb] So far my favourite seems to be the Tuniq... All I want is cooling performance, I'm not too bothered about noise. Also, is the best thermal paste still AS5?
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Oh also, should have mentioned, I absolutely do not want the stock type of connectors for an LGA775 mobo. They are horrible and should die a slow and painful death. Edit: These bastards
Try the tuniq/sunbeam core contact freezer. The mounting bracket is pushpin but the heatsink itself uses clips. Yes, AS5 is still good stuff but takes about 100 hours for it to get to it's maxium potential, MX-2 works at its best straight away.
Snip.

They are horrible and should die a slow and painful death.
The F7P's clips are far easier to put in, I swapped a stock heatsink for one the other day and was amazed at how the same clip design can be that much easier to use it's also excellent for cooling, and incredibly cheap for how well it does it's job, dropped a friend's temps from 45-60 idling to 30-35, 50 on load it also includes thermal paste on the bottom, MX-2 IIRC, just remember to clean the existing paste off first http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105994 £15+delivery
F7P should be fine, sucks that you don't have the G0 stepping one. If you wanna dish out get the tuniq, but the F7P is easy to mount and will shave the temps.
I noticed that there was a Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme being released soon.. They say the cooling performance on it is better than the original and it's like £33 from overclockers (pre-order) also comes with TX-3 grease
This is similar to the core contact freezer and has better performance. You'll want to be looking out for direct-touch heatpipes as they give the best cooling.
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
This. I use it and it dropped my Q6600 from stock cooling about 15c.
Scythe Mugen II
Ultra 120 gets my vote if you don't mind spending a tad more. Friend of mine runs an i7 920 C0 under it and gets 25c idle.
Xigamatek s1283.
If you have some cash to spend, get a TRUE (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme). Currently running my i7 920 @ 3.8 Ghz with 36 C idle temps.
AC freezer 7 is a great, cheap cooler. I know you have a grudge against pins for some reason, but it's an awesome cooler.
honestly, the pins are fine on the F7P I was pushing them for about 5 minutes before I realised they were already in after a few seconds
