I'm not very tech savvy but i wanted to upgrade my computer. I was thinking a new graphics card and maybe a processor but I'm not sure. Lets say my budget is $600. System Model: P5K BIOS: BIOS Date: 07/03/07 10:01:10 Ver: 08.00.12 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 3328MB RAM Page File: 1558MB used, 3652MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Card name: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. Chip type: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x9588) http://www.apevia.com/ProductsInfo.asp?KEY=X-JUPITERS-MG Pretty sure thats my case but I think i have a bit of an older model. Please help me find a good graphics card. Thanks for reading
No point in upgrading the processor because to get a worthwile performance upgrade you need a new montherboard, as you would need a socket 1156 processor or something. I would recommend an Ati HD5870 but I'd need to know how powerful your PSU is. If you dont know, open up your case and look on the side of the PSU. There's usually a big sticker with lots of info. look for how many watts it is and post.
Its a pure power 500 np so 500 watts?

Even he had a good psu he doesn't need a 5870. That's $400 out of his budget right there. He's better off getting a 5850/5770 and getting a decent mobo and cpu.

If so, I recommend getting an HD 5870 and start saving for a new mobo-CPU.

Well i do have a PCI-E port im pretty sure, but yeah about all that stuff the one thing i fear is that it wont fit into the case, should i be worried? Also my past ATI graphics card 2600 XT was pretty bad for drivers, should i go with Nvidia or ATI
It will fit in that case. And ATi is best to go with right now.
Is it difficult to put a mobo in?
Is it difficult to put a mobo in?
Nope. Make sure you're grounded and then screw some standoffs in the holes in the case that align with the motherboard's holes. This is a standoff: Then put the I/O shield in the case, then, align the board with the standoffs/I/O shield holes as much as you can and screw it in. Don't put standoffs in holes that don't align that can cause serious problems while the computer is on.
I was thinking, I want to know more about computers in general do you know any good books about computers. I was looking at this one: http://www.amazon.ca/Build-Your-Own-Yourself-Dummies/dp/0470196114/ref=br_lf_m_1000060111_1_12_img/176-0551055-6626043?_encoding=UTF8&m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&s=books&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1AK2WVZDPFV4S9N69R8E&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=485023251&pf_rd_i=1000060111

All of this information is easily available on the internet with lots of videos to aid you in building your computer.
