When I added Firefox to the list and rebooted, it didn't work and Firefox was gone. After that I opened Startup Applications list with su -c and added FF again, this time it opened on reboot. But when I add something, for example the Terminal to startup list, it stays on the list but doesn't open on startup. Any help?
Using Ubuntu 9.10
Which interface? Are you using the default one?
He is using the default one. I don't know why you'd need root to be able to load FF with startup applications.
You most likely already tried the trick to attempt to get terminal to work.
Only reason I could think of is it is setup to not allow a terminal to be run at start time for security reasons?
Maybe try running a terminal alternative or shell and see if it will load. That's kind of odd first FF had problems and now you can't open a terminal with it.
Arr, this is (counting yesterday) my first time using Ubuntu, or any Linux/Unix type OS.
So, uhh, step to step instructions?

Also, FF is the only thing the startup thing works on, I tried the Character Map, Dictionary and Seahorse.
I think I've found out why it doesn't work.
I'm running Ubuntu on VMware 6.0
