Hello there!
I have a 4.0 sound setup using 2 seperate amps (hey, we have a bunch of old amps at home so why not combine then and get some surround.
Now, i do get surround when the media i play are encoded with with >= 4 sound channels, but not for stereo.
In my computer i have an Creative X-FI Fatal1ty edition that is supposed to be able to do the stereo to surround up-mixing with CMSS-3D.
The problem is however, that it simply won't. It even refuses to do stereo surround with the same sound on all speakers...
Now this sure sucks as i can remember it working in vista... Damn Creative and there shitty drivers...
Either way, i've found that the CCCP codecs (FFDshow) does a wonderful job in upmixing all of my media as long as i use MPClassic or WMP or whatever, the effect wont work on applications like spotify.
Now, as Creative have failed me, there are no 3rd party drivers for download, and i refuse to go back to a shitty OS like vista, and XP being just to obsolete for me, i will simply have to find a way to do this upmix with FFDshow.
Now, to the main questions:
1. I want FFDshow to do this upmix for ALL of my sounds and programs, the question is just IF and HOW
2. I would appreciate if this conversion also worked for line in inputs.
It is possible at all to do any of this?
Sound is designed to come from the front in stereo. Unless your room is massive i dont see the point in having 4 speakers for music.
