So it's going to be my college computer (I have an alright laptop as well so that's covered) but I really want it for all of the fun shit I plan to do while I'm procrastinating on my actual homework. Uses in somewhat order -Rendering and 3D work with 3DSMax and Marmoset, etc -Gaming (mostly Garrysmod, BF3, not sure what new games I'll be getting) -Movie editing and compositing with AE and Premier. -processing power and storage space -Photography- thus 1.5TB HDD -Digital painting and graphic design work with Photoshop, probably not a concern -Music recording, but that's probably not too intense either So judging by my last experience here I really have no idea what I'm doing. What do I need? -I'd like to have an i7 and 16GB+ RAM but I don't have a clue if it's necessary or not. -I already have a 560Ti that I plan to use. -I also have a 1.5TB external HDD but I'd still like an internal as well -I'd also like a 200GB+ SSD for OS and 1.5TB+ storage drive, if that's possible or logical at all -A decent soundcard would be cool if they're worth it? -Windows 7 pls? -I will need a monitor, either 23" or 27" would be good, not sure if 27 is a horrible idea or not. -A good/decent keyboard and mouse as well Anything else you can think of would be lovely? Budget is somewhat flexible, a bit more or less is alright but I'd like to be between 14 and 16. Thanks much!
I would for that use get a better graphics card, although I'm sure it would manage but is it possible to stretch to a 570? or a 580? SSDs over 120gb are still very expensive, 120gb is plenty for just OS unless you plan to install anything else on it. I like 23" screen but it really depends what you like and how much you can spend.

And you probably don't need a sound card.
Get the spinpoint f3 instead, its $10 cheaper http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185, Overpriced ram is overpriced http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220569 And I know how reliable Intel SSD's are but cmon save him some cash and get him a crucial M4. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148529 Also ASUS masterrace IPS + 3D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236262 [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] Also sexy sex cases are sexy sex. Well yea I suppose, I'm just like that. I'll pay the extra.
Spinpoint F3's are faster/more reliable than the WD Caviar Black's anyway aren't they?
Well for now I'd at least like to try the 560Ti and see how it does. Eventually I'd really like to drop a grand on a 690 or at least a 590/680 after some savings, would this build hold the card back? Monitors, do they make non-3d monitors that are cheaper? Fuckin' hate 3D shit. Cases, can I just pick any mid range case that looks decent or is it worth $140 for a case? Also, I actually meant 120GB SSD haha, my bad.

I just showed you one of the best monitors made. And yea, feel free to pick any case that fits an atx motherboard.

I'll probably be looking for a case with support for a multi-card reader and a few USB ports on the front, good to know. Thanks for everything so far by the way guys :D

EDIT: I found this guy, does it just go into one of the drive bays? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811996038 [editline]8th June 2012[/editline]
On paper the dell is better, but the asus has 3d.
Then Dell it is, fuck 3D hahaha.
I'm just an ASUS fanboy, the dell is probably better though.
Also the dell is 1920x1200 and the asus is 1920x1080. And yes it does go in a front bay. I also forgot to add a dvd drive to the build. GO grab a 20$ asus.
ASUS MASTERACE FTW DVD DRAVS HURR. Don't get an OEM drive though... made that mistake and I forgot to order the damned sata cable..
Haha, I'm assuming most games and such should support 1920x1200? Also I actually am starting to like the cases Zero linked, sexy indeed. I'll have that in my cart unless I find something I like more. To be honest I doubt I'd EVER need a DVD drive but it can't hurt to be safe haha. YEAH I HEARD ASUS MAKES THE BEST DVD DRAVS GUYS I THINK I WANT TO MAKE AN ALL ASUS BUILD WITH AN ASUS CPU AND AND KEYBAORD AND ALL THAT SHITE RIGHT GUYS RIGHT?

And the dvd drive doesn't matter. Just go to newegg and get the one with the best rating and free shipping.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference anyway but lots of my friends have been referring me to buy this monitor for my first build.
