Though Rockstar and Take Two have not disclosed many details on exactly how its long-awaited Red Dead Redemption 2 will play out, coming in "Spring 2018," financial reports like this could prove to be telling. Take Two can't stop printing money via GTA Online's microtransactions, and it's hard to imagine RDR2 launching without similar online-revenue aspirations.
NO NO NO
NO NO NO
The gaming community will reap what it sows.
NO NO NO
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
go ahead and keep hamming it up TakeTwo, I use FiveM anyway never giving a cent to GTA Online microtransactions
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
Can someone please link that image of Rockstar's Release Schedule / DLC release schedule of their past games and then GTA IV happens and it all goes to shit? I can't find it. [editline]2nd August 2017[/editline] It's going to motivate what DLC / Additional game content is geared towards. Coming from a game where one of the SP-Focussed DLC's (Undead Nightmare), was immensely popular, coupled with how that field was handled with GTA V, fans should be very concerned.
I get the feeling there was a lot of SP DLC planned for GTA 5, thus leaked stuff like casinos/nightclubs/etc that never panned out, just because online DLC was more profitable. I wouldn't keep up my hopes for post-launch content to RDR2 SP.
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
They could never make any single-player dlc, if they just focus on multiplayer. They could "unintentionally" remove mod support by trying to ban online hackers. And it would detract from resources that could be used to make a better singleplayer.
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
Well I hope you never want any single-player DLC then. You know, the stuff Rockstar was actually good at in past games. Time for overprices stunt horse DLC.
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
why wouldn't it? i'm fairly certain GTA V's single player was rushed due to financial decisions
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
so it was with GTA. Personally I found GTAV's singleplayer quite satisfying on its own, and I haven't even touched the online portion even once.
i don't see how this will affect the single player, which is what matters with RDR
They didn't know at this point how ludicrously profitable multiplayer is I guarantee that a massive focus of RDR2 will be multiplayer. Development time will have been shifted away from SP to MP
NO NO NO
All those excuses such as "You don't have to buy it!" resulted in enabling a large portion of these popular MP games to have some form of microtransactions, regardless of their store costs. Not surprised that such possibilities are on the table in the slightest. Don't have high hopes for RDR2 due to T2 anyway.
After Take Two completely botched the FiveM takedown (I don't give a shit that they finally located their ass with both hands and backed down) I was basically done with GTA and didn't care about RDR2 PC if it happens. If R* shows anything that even slightly resembles GTAO in RDR2 PC I will actively warn away anyone I know if I see them discussing getting it. That'll be the point where I go from quietly boycotting it to actively trying to hurt sales within my social circle. I wouldn't go around starting change.org petitions and joining random forums to hate-train the shit, but I'd definitely try and talk friends out of preordering (at least) so that R* and T2 aren't rewarded for taking us on another ride. I've played Korean cash shop F2P MMOs that were less punishingly grindy.
