You know what we need?, a remake of Jedi academy or Jedi outcast
a tall order. Besides technical issues, the game is a classic and i don't think much can be changed without making it totally different.
You know what we need?, a remake of Jedi academy or Jedi outcast
I don't know, a lot could go wrong in the combat system.
I don't know, a lot could go wrong in the combat system.
Adopt a combat system like Chivalry, speed all the animations up and add force powers. Done.
Not quite understanding the association with infinity.
It looks good, but it doesn't look Star Wars. Weird.
It looks good, but it doesn't look Star Wars. Weird.
I'm going to assume that this is one of those "Let's slap generic hi-res textures onto this and call it better!" deals that a lot of mods do.
god why do so many UE4 projects look so stupidly shiny and feel so cold and overexposed
This looks so bad
god why do so many UE4 projects look so stupidly shiny and feel so cold and overexposed
Because UE is superior engine with superior graphics, like screen space reflections. /sarcasm I love how if you remake any old game in UE you're basically guaranteed, whether its .0001% complete or less, to make internet news. There was a completely un textured, un finished single locale from mario sunshine, and it was trending on facebook as "Someone is recreating Mario Sunshine in Unreal!!!".
^ This is almost worse. Most of what's in the screenshots are scenes made from standard marketplace content or unreal example assets. Basically, when pcgamesn says next-gen remake of KOTOR, they mean, some guy made vaguely kotor shaped levels out of generic assets. I could literally throw together the scenes in those screenshots in an afternoon, anyone could, whether they've used unreal before or not. Unreal has developed a bit of a stigma for being a big toy. Because its so easy to initially start building certain aspects of games (like levels) in unreal, you end up seeing a lot of amateurs doing stuff like this. But what PCGamesN should be looking for (which they won't because they suck) is the guy who's making a full, open-source dialogue tree and quest manager system, or a modular rpg character levelling system. They should be talking about how new features like the new sequencer make Bioware-style cutscenes 10 times easier in unreal. Things like that, which, increasingly, you can find in the unity and unreal communities are the real building blocks of a big remake this article claims its found.
Adopt a combat system like Chivalry, speed all the animations up and add force powers. Done.
negative, there was nothing wrong with the combat system in ja/jo all they would need to do is port that over and give it fancy graphics
im not a guy for coding but i always wondered why nobody tried porting ja over to a new engine with the source code released i mean i never heard news of any attempts of it either
Looks okay? Probably one of those projects that'll disappear fairly quietly after a while. Supposedly this is a comparison screenshot .. ? When you treat Star Wars like Scifi, you lose all the charm. They're also totally redoing basically everything, though, they did say that.
Reminds me of these shitty "Nintendo games on Unreal" projects all these vids made it into news, even though they are completely uninteresting.
[t]http://www.apeirongame.com/img/work/full/endar4-full.png[/t]
This looks like something Digital Homicide would put out.
KOTOR being one of my favorite games of all time, this looks like shit. None of the shots look remotely like Star Wars, the Endar Spire shots are laughably generic sci-fi and entirely lack the original aesthetic.
tbf the original didn't particularly look like Star Wars to me either, for the most part. But yeah this remake has a pretty weak aesthetic.

I feel like they're going to visually explain how things work, by adding tons of things everywhere that are very "Scifi" futuristic in nature, and it looks like they're going to make it look like a logical and modern system rather than some fantastical device that works because Lunk Skyrunner made it work because he's smart. That's a BIG mistake.
This reminds me of fakefactory.

Speak for yourself.
Yet another project thats going to fail because its focusing way too much on the visual before actually gameplay elements. That and well it looks nothing like KOTR in most parts.
Yet another project thats going to fail because its focusing way too much on the visual before actually gameplay elements. That and well it looks nothing like KOTR in most parts.
uhhh that isn't the reason why the project is going to fail. it's proposed as a full remake where they don't have the permission or legality to do so, meaning it'll get c&d'd long before it actually finishes. on their site they used to have
Is this legal? Absolutley! Can you make a Star Wars game? Remakes of games have been around since the 80's and some have become very sucessful. WE BELIEVE SO Can you make a Star Wars game? Engine refresh of games has been around since the 80's and some have become very sucessful. Games like Black Mesa did it with Half Life and Renegade X rebuilt Command and Conquer in the Unreal Engine 3. This is a full conversion refresh, that being said you will have to own a copy of the orginal game in order to play Apeiron since we are using the orginal audio and music. At it's core Apeiron is the most instense KotOR modification ever.
which again, is STILL NOT LEGAL. owning a legit copy of kotor does NOT mean you are allowed to use the original audio and music. there's also the fact that they're using the kotor name, and they also put in bioware's name in the loading screen https://twitter.com/apeiron_kotor/status/695742967638855680
This reminds me of fakefactory.
Can't wait until every character looks like a porn star.
god why do so many UE4 projects look so stupidly shiny and feel so cold and overexposed
Because that's how the engine looks by default before you add any proper lighting and stuff like that.
