My mom gave me an old computer she was no longer using for my room (yay!) and promptly after getting it I installed Ubuntu 9.10. It runs fantastically. The only problem is that it's not detecting the video card or something and I can only select two small resolutions. Here is the display menu.

Any ideas what to do? I've endlessly searched the web and found no solution. Any help would be great! Thanks. :)
Type 'lspci | grep VGA' in the terminal (can be accessed from applications -> accessories in the menu) then post the results.
(lspci means list PCI, knowing what stuff means can help job memory if for some reason you need to do this later)
Awesome! Gotta love grep :D
Here are the results.

Well I went to their website and apparently they only support my video card on 9.04 and lower. :/ Should I downgrade?
Did you try the apt-get method mentioned on page 3?
Also, try it anyway. Maybe it'll work in 9.10.

Yeah, the repository wasn't found.
The driver wouldn't even extract.
Google searching 'Ubuntu S3 UniChrome Pro' comes up with some nice information.

Oh yeah haha I've seen that thread. None of it really works. I'm just going to go to 9.04. Not a big deal. :) Thanks for all your effort!
do sudo apt-get update then retry the apt-get method on page 3
