One dollar short, shit. And I'll have to add 10 dollars on steam wallet anyway.
This game has waaaaay too many DLC's.
Not even a year old and it's already got 12 DLC.

But most if not all of them are great.

Railworks.
Saints row 3.
That's 2 off the top of my head.

Aaand?
Railwork is constantly mocked for it's amount of DLC.
Saints Row 3 is retarded for planning 40 weeks of DLC before even launching the game and having 7 confirmed DLC on release.
Plus all together its only 25 bucks. Which is cheap.
Saints Row 3 is retarded for planning 40 weeks of DLC before even launching the game and having 7 confirmed DLC on release.
Yeah, adding new content to a game? That's so retarded.
Yeah, adding new content to a game? That's so retarded.
In the case of Saints Row it is. Because there is clearly content taken out of the game's retail release for DLC.
In Magicka it's a little more forgivable since it was content developed after it's release.
Yeah, adding new content to a game? That's so retarded.
Deciding that they will release 40 individual pay-to-get DLC (+ those released on launch... instead of included in the game...) before even finishing the game is retarded.
I'm all for adding content to a game once it is relatively bug free and stable, magicka releasing good content for cheap prices is absolutely no problem to me
fix the game first, then i might consider purchasing dlcs
Bought them :D! Now can my brother and I continue this crazy adventure.

Ignoring most of them were little costumes and only a couple were essentially new games.

Quite the opposite. That's why I'm reacting.
Quite the opposite. That's why I'm reacting.
Even if that was the case, why does it bother you? They're creating content after the game got released, I can in no way see any problems with this.
Mind explaining? And most of the DLCs are in fact new clothes and challenge maps.
Quite the opposite. That's why I'm reacting.
There's 6 costume packs, 4 levels and 2 expansions that's nothing to over-react about.
You shouldn't really complain about the price, they are a small studio that has supported the game ever since release with bugfixes and updates, yes they have priced DLCs but they deserve the money, The game is great and I'll happily buy every DLC Arrowhead throws at me because they are fucking awesome.

It bothers me that small stuff that should be free gets a price-tag on it.
New missions are a-ok as DLC. A new robe as DLC is retarded.

I'm not over-reacting. I'm making a small complaint about their marketing strategy.

There are lots of other indie games that offer content for free and make a living out of the games price alone.
Big studio or small studio. DLC that is effortlessly small and should just be incorporated into the game rather than being sold on the side is stupid.
Cosmetics as DLC is stupid. If you're gonna do it, at least pack tons of cosmetics, not just one damn thing.
New levels are argueable, it depends on how much work is put into them.
New missions are understandable.

It's had a huge bugfix patch recently. Did you even bother to check?

• Marginally increased the health bar height on player characters.
• Damage numbers caused by status effects will now properly display for network clients.
• Fixed an issue which incorrectly set the players team in non-versus games.

• Beastmen will now properly crouch before jumping.
• Fixed user input control when feared or panicking.
• Fixed a small bug in the AI, enemies should now be more responsive.

"Content\EffectTextures\ParticlesC.xnb"

Most of the SR3 DLC is still quite a while until it's going to be released. If it was already in the game, they'd just release them right away. Right now there's only like 3 DLC packs you can buy for SR3 and one of them is a pre-order for future DLC. In SR3's case, it IS new content that's going to be added after release.
Also, I love how you can play all Magicka DLCs as long as the host has it. I just played trough this one with some guys and I don't have it myself.

Why though, it doesn't hurt you because you obviously don't want to buy it, if people want new skins and are okey with paying for it...?
I've bought every single DLC for Magicka because the game is simply awesome, I want to be able to support them even if its only a skin. Can't say the same for Dungeon Defenders though that recently released DLC with new skins.
I get your point, I have no problems with this kind of stuff though.

Because I think it is a bad business strategy that focuses on milking money rather than providing a service. It's a mindset I find polluting the game industry. Instead of simply focusing on making a game so good that everyone wants to buy it the focus tends to shifting towards making an alright game and add lots of DLC to it that usually was added in free updates in the earlier days.
I don't mind DLC itself, I just mind the mindset that usually comes a long with it. How you want to spend your money is your thing. But that they want you to spend money on something that really shouldn't have had a price tag on it in the first place makes me look down on them.
I'm not implying that Magicka is a bad game in itself or that the developers are scumbags. But I think the mindset they have for their DLC is just milking their customers and nothing else.
Also, I love how you can play all Magicka DLCs as long as the host has it. I just played trough this one with some guys and I don't have it myself.
Yeah, that is a really nice feature.
Nothing worse than not being able to join servers or matches because you haven't purchased some stupid DLC you don't want in a game.
It's had a huge bugfix patch recently. Did you even bother to check?
yes and it's still broken
Can we stop arguing over bugs and DLC and get some pictures of the new robes/items?
This game has waaaaay too many DLC's.

Most of it is dumb skins that you don't need to buy. No one complains about Killing Floor having these, because they are DLC that don't matter.
If it was already in the game, they'd just release them right away.
Did you know that I am already using a fair amount of the DLC that's in the files? It's a simple matter of tweaking a few LUA files and shadaisy, you've got a pimping cane and a suit of armor.

Skins, not so much. They're equipment packs which (in the case of say, the Wizard GI or the Rogue) are hilariously overpowered in comparison to the default robes.

Aren't those pre-order bonuses though?
