• The Dark Knight: The Joker or Bane - Which one is the better villain?

Well, with all the talk about The Dark Knight Rises, I figured we could have a thread where we discuss the Villains of The Dark knight, and The Dark Knight rises. Personally, I think the Joker was an all around better villain than Bane. Simply because of the fact that he didn't really have a reason why he wanted to spread terror other than just being a sadistic mad man who loved to cause torment. He was also more mentally intimidating because of the fact that he was one crazy motherfucker.
Joker. I cannot see Bane being a better villain than Joker, ever. Joker is better known, is more fucked up, and all around just a hell of a lot more unique.
The Joker is one of the greatest villains ever.
Joker all the way.
Joker, although Bane is pretty badass as well.
Bane. Bane is both a physical and mental counterpart for Batman and makes for some very interesting interaction between the two characters. Don't get me wrong, Joker was fucking awesome, but Bane was just a little bit better.
Joker, and this should have been a poll
They're both equally good in my opinion.
Bane is great at messing things up since he is one of the smartest villains, but is basically no match for Batman. Joker on the other hand is not only great at causing chaos but is also the only villain that can truly get to Batman and cause serious psychological and emotional damage to him, which is an amazing feat.
Joker is someone I would like to hang out with, as well as a good villain.
Bane was a fucking badass but joker was better

He fucking breaks his back(comics) which actually ends his career as batman until some magic shit heals him. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] The joker just almost pushes him to his moral limit when he knows he should kill him.
As far as the movies go? Bane. Joker was disappointing, imo, in the movies, being just too different from Mark Hamill style. Bane's character in the movie seemed to fit: a brilliant brute. He knew what he was doing, and was able to physically take Batman on and defeat him. [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] [QUOTE=ellibob;36890616]No match for batman? So fucking glad they included that scene.[/sp]
Joker because Batman and the Joker went surfing together.

He is definitely a match for Batman physically, maybe even intelligence-wise but he could never break the Batman himself. Joker on the other hand repeatedly nearly brings Batman to the brink of insanity and nearly makes him break his moral code such as in "The Killing Joke" where Batman breaks character and actually laughs and "A death in the family" for obvious reasons.

In fact, thats why they used the term "The Man who Broke the Bat"
Joker, but Bane was a good villain too.
Watch dark knight I knew batman was going to overcome everything, but dark knight rises, I was on the edge of my seat going, "how the hell will batman beat someone invincible." both are unique and both are surprisingly well portrayed. It's like asking someone do you like oreos or ribs more? They're a bit unique from one another.

Batman is clearly the best batman villain.
The guy who shot up that theater. Batman's fictional, that man is real.

Joker's not really a villain though, just a "fuck shit up" guy, Bane had a well thought out plan and managed to [sp]completely take over the city for several months, and would have blown it the fuck up (as well as nearly (?) killing batman[/sp] Joker had more style, but Bane is generally a better villain [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] Also, where's scarecrow :(
Both are great in their own ways Joker being the homicidal maniac and Bane being the totalitarian general who sounds vaguely like Sean Connery.
