You guys helped me out last time I was here so I'm back again.
My brother wants to build a computer that will be used to play Starcraft LAN games. I know Starcraft doesn't have very high system requirements so I'm wondering if you guys could get the cheapest possible parts that can run it without lag. The OS that it will likely have is XP as it is the lightest of them all. Monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers are not included in parts list.
He will be buying from newegg.ca so if you get a list from there, that would be better but if not thats alright.
Thanks guys.
It's best if you give us a budget. How cheap we talking?
The first starcraft?
Pretty much any compute you can buy can play it.
You can pretty much buy a netbook and have a advantage of it being super portable.

Or he could get a desktop that could later be upgraded to a much better computer.
Yes the first Starcraft and if you want a budget we can say $200 but even less is good too.

If you are just going to play starcraft, you don't need a better computer. Its much better to have a netbook for LAN games because it so easy to carry around.
PROTIP: Windows 2000

Yeah, but then he's stuck with his shit netbook specs, but with a desktop you can upgrade later on so you can play even better games.

Yeah, he also wants to do this partially so he knows how to put together a desktop for when he actually gets something nice.
I'm pretty sure I used to play SC on a 133mhz pentium. Seriously. Don't worry about it. Get the cheapest computer you can find if SC compatibility is the only requirement.

Yeah, around $200. My brother is a cheapass.
Get something from a thrift store.
slightly used netbook, make sure to get one with a actual hdd, and not flash storage.
