Symphony X - The Odyssey Got me into prog metal (and more into metal in general) due to it's awesomeness. The Offspring - All I Want Heard it in Crazy Taxi and it got me into punk. Laibach - Get Back After I heard this, I started listening to weirder music (like Laibach, Naked City, etc) Still can't tolerate stuff like this though. :v:
Made me start to appreciate real rap/hip-hop.
Got me into the classical music that isn't dreamy or light. You know, the stuff that's supposed to relax you.
The song that springs into my head is this one: http://grooveshark.com/s/Corner+Of+The+Earth+album+Version+/2NAD2s?src=5 It hasn't dramatically changed my music taste, the reason is a whole other. I've liked Jamiroquai for quite a while now, but I heard this song maybe a week ago. The thing is, I knew I had heard that song before, but way back, really. I must've have been 5 or something, so I had a nostalgasm and listened to the whole thing with goosebumps. The thing it changed is that I actually want to listen to music on the go again, I haven't done that in maybe ~2 years.
I didn't really listen to dubstep until I heard a song from skrillex Don't know which one anymore
I didn't really listen to dubstep until I heard a song from skrillex Don't know which one anymore
I heard Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites for the first time and that was before I got into dubstep (I didn't like it). I heard THIS song and I've been listening to dubstep ever since (and not the filthy wobbles and same beat over and over and over again, the more melodic ones)
Got me into ye olde 60's stuff, there may have been stuff before this but this one is the one I remember most.

Before that, i used to listen to some technoish music.
I really like this thread. For me, it's Fade to Black : Now, I know I already posted this video on some other threads, but I'm sorry, that's just the way it is. Fade to Black from Ride the Lightning by Metallica changed everything about my lifestyle. It's where it all began for me. Hell, this song even kept me away from suicide (even though, ironicaly enough, the song is about a suicide note). When I first heard this song, I just stood there, looking a my screen. I couldn't be more amazed. James Hetfield, I love you. Forever my hero. \m/
Probably the most talented musician in Norway atm imo.
And then I liked Dubstep. Ephixa, Going Quantum, Halo Nova, Stephen Walking, Monstercat Media <3
Got me into metal.
I first started listening to rock about at the age of 6 or 7, when I listened to my brother's Blink 182 album, then slowly started getting into metal.

I didn't listen to alot of DMX songs before this. Now, I have almost every album of him.
I got into dubstep thanks to this vid: and now I listen to this 'group':
I really started enjoying the Japanese side of shock rock/metal/pop after my brother and his girlfriend (now ex) gave me a CD that contained this song among others: I also got in to neoclassical thanks to Dead Can Dance (dad gave me a CD) and Arcana: And I really recently started enjoying music made by bands/artists such as Lamb of God, Blackmill, South Central, Machine Head, Tyler The Creator (the only rapper I can actually listen to), Five Finger Death Punch (even though they have very patriotic "america is the best" lyrics at times) and Woodkid.
one by Metallica I guess
Sort-of into dnbish stuff. Into SOME vocaloid songs.
Ozzy Osbourne.
I didnt really listen to any music at all at least nothing I had discovered on my own, until I heard this and I immediately went out and bought the cd. And then I moved on through a little bit heavier genres, mostly just stuck to hardcore for a while then I heard this and immediately fell in love and started listening to really heavy stuff. But i listen to so much shit now a days its hard to tell what got me into it. Mostly I just try and find whatever sounds good, whether its dubstep, cybergrind, j-hip-hop, or motherfuckin Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Basically my parents and playing Guitar Hero made me a big metal fan when I was younger, but... Got me into rock. These 2 got me into metal (please pardon the terrible youtube quality on each). These 2 got me into power metal, progressive rock/metal, neo-classical, and classical music.
Dream Theater, Tool and Yes are great progressive bands. I listen to them frequently, they have great stuff.
