Can easily be avoided with alternative DNS servers like Blockaid, just like TPB can. Wouldn't be surprised if the UK PirateParty start mirroring it too.
Love how one of the first things you see in the article is "There are ways to circumvent blocks, by using proxy servers for instance", Its like the BBC wants to point out how easy it is to avoid

They're just being unbiased.
What would it take for the MPAA and RIAA and all the other asshole AAs to leave the internet alone?
Seriously, only an idiot would think they could take on something that huge.
They're getting nowhere, they need to give up. They haven't even changed tactics, it's like they are doing this out of routine.
I for one am glad the MPA (and the other copyright holders) are working so hard towards getting ISP's to block pirate sites because it's a massive waste of time and means they aren't doing anything truly damaging, at least for the time being.
Although, it is a shame that they are even able to get websites blocked.
Now we get to hear all the uninformed people blaming Virgin Media for blocking it.
I don't understand the reason for these blocks.
If the service is legal, don't block it. If the service is illegal, shut it down completely and punish any criminals in accordance with the law. Blocking literally doesn't solve anything. It could warns the criminal someone's watching his servers and he should pack up while he still can. It could strike honest people that don't even get a fair trial since all of this is outside of the "official system". But how can it offer a solution to the problem it was tailored to?
I don't get what they're trying to achieve with this. Anyone that can google "the pirate bay" can google for a fix or download torrent archives to access a swarm.
Pirate bay is blocked for me in the UK
However there's about a thousand TPB mirrors to ignore the block

This doesn't work, the block is more than a DNS block
It's just going to get mirrored, what's the problem?
problem is the whole idea of censoring websites like this
