Whoever did this podcast, if you're reading I would like to know what mic you bought.

Sounds like it was recorded off of a potato

I've bought a snowball condenser mic.
The problem was that Audacity's default setting is to pause recording when it doesn't detect any input - my last mic was so bad that it never paused the recording, it was always taking in audio, so I didn't realise it did this. This meant that when we finished recording the episode with my new mic my audio was always out of sync with everyone else's and the only way to realign it would be to edit every time I speak into position. It would have taken hours. Instead I took the audio from the Skype recording to save time and fixed Audacity for when we record next week.
